snhond3 w/ navi installation problems

I'm trying to get the snhond3 w/ navi setup in my tsx. I accidently cut the accord wire harness way to close to the female end of the adaptor. I was able to seperate the orange and gray wires, but the shielding that was wrapped up all came out (apparently, it is not attached at the bottom of the adaptor). There is a thin metal wire that looked like it was inside of the shielding. Can I just use this in place of the metal shielding? Can I try wrapping the shielding back around that metal wire? Is the shielding just a ground connection? I'm pretty pissed at myself for screwing up a 40$ part, but I'm going to try and finish the install anyway to see if it works. I just hope I don't electrocute myself or something.

You probably don't want to hear this, but if it was me, I'd bite the bullet and get another adapter. No sense frying your new Navi. Hopefully, someone else has a better idea about the shielding but if you don't hear from someone get another one.

Re: snhond3 w/ navi installation problems

Well, I hooked it all up and it works great! I'm still having some problems getting everything back together though. I installed two wallplate rca plugs into the center console and put everything back together. Now the cupholder won't fully open. It must be hitting one of the rca plugs. At first I couldnt get the console back in at all, but two rca right angle adaptors fixed that. I'm not looking forward to taking the console off again, it's a total pain in the ass. When I was taking it off, I pulled at the wrong part and snapped off the little plastic ring that is inset around the shift boot. It snapped back in, but a few of the clips are broken so it isn't flush with the rest of the console now. argghhhhh....if you don't know what you're doing, take it to a pro

my recommendation: if you plan on doing allot of self mods to the TSX, get your hands on the TSX service manual. it has details of anything and everything of the TSX, including wiring diagrams and shows how to properly take apart console, door panel, etc. it was around $60 and well worth the money. it also saves allot of time.

Glad you had no problems with the shield. For future reference, what did you do with the shielding?

I wrapped it back around the thin exposed metal wire. I figured that's how it was in there initially.

if its the same manual as those pages scanned and posted here by one of the users, it wasn't really much help at all regarding the center console panel removal... the gist of it was HERE ARE THE CLIPS, PULL UP...

What's wrong with that? That's exactly how it's supposed to be removed!

The service manual rocks. Definitely one of the best I have ever seen.

where can you get the service manual? I've seen references to it many times, but no links. Is it just ask for it from the dealership?

I have the service manual too. It is worth the price if you plan on doing mods. It lets you know exactly where those hidin snap connectors are so you can pull at the right location.
