a sign of safetly on the amp??

was playing the sub for quite awhile with heavy bass songs... suddenly the subs just stop and and i went back to stock..... damn was i scared... i thought i blew my stock or amp... i turned the HU off for like 2-3 mins... turned it back on... and then the pounding came back... was this a sign of the safetly on the amp kicking in due to too much heat... also i had my car parked under the sun during the whole day before i started the pounding...any ideas?

The amp probably went into protection mode. A lot of amps will shut themselves off if they get too hot.

yeah 23wt i would have to agree with what Nicky Pass
said about the amp cutting off and going into protection mode due to it being too hot.... from what little research i did on the set up you have the amp is 150w x1.... and the speaker peak is about 600w i would say that you might want to think about getting a amp say double what you have now.... just my 2 cents...

Also, Check your ground wire. Where do you have your AMP Grounded too. I had a problem where I thought my AMP went bad, then I took out the voltmeter and noticed the ground had gone bad. Connection was tight but the location for the ground went bad. I ended up running a ground direct from the battery.

my grounding wire is fine... but ya think either having an 300W sub will be better than now? i find the pounding is just right for me... giving it more power will only give it more pounding right?

more power does not alway = more performance.... if you get a bigger amp it would just allow you to push the sub the same without having to strain the amp which would keep the amp from overheating and cutting off.... i believe the KAC-729s would work out well...... and NJ_CLS_driver why would you run a ground all the way from the battery.... a chasis ground would be just as good.... i was alway told that you sould try to keep the ground cable as short as possible... besides that rule you wasted a lot of wire running it all the way thru the car when you only really needed like 3 or 4 feet.....

then i might get the 729 one and use those to power the subs this chirstmas and use the 629 power the 6.5 or 6x9 speakers...if the stock can't take more power i guess i'll get a pair of new ones along with the new amp this chirstmas
