Self-serving request for comments

I know, after all the bluntness I've dished out, this is a risk... : ) but check out the current state of www.avincar.com

Already on the list:

Images need optimizing in Photoshop for resolution - some up, some down.

Who we are needs finishing

Avincar speakers needs fewer photos and better layout, IMO

The other brands will have their own sections in the website rather than linking back to the manufacturer website (there will be a link still, but not on the main list...)

So...maybe a dumb question, but besides explain your philosophy, what is the point of the site? Can you buy anything on it?

No. You can come into the store in Portland. Perhaps I should make that more clear, eh ? : )

Maybe...I was clicking around looking for where to buy stuff...

then again, I think I have an undiagnosed case of mild down syndrome so you should get a second opinion.

I like the plain language and the directness of the site. Since (hopefully) you will be getting business from elsewhere than these boards, some of your clientele may not necessarily understand what you are offering, and what the possibilities exist. Perhaps some examples of systems you have designed/installed would help give people ideas.

Also, the links on your header seem to switch order from page to page. From a user navigation standpoint, it would be better if it were consistent throughout the site.

Overall though, very nice, tidy, and clear site. Kudos.

very clean and informative site. but i think what it is lacking is maybe a "store" type page. as well as some install shots. overall i really like it, but it looks like a site that i would list on my "works cited page" for my essay Good work though

My :

It's well written but beetroot is right, there should be a reason why people will go there. If you're advertising your storefront, then you should make that the main focus of the site. Your philosophy is obviously very important to differentiate you from your competition, but perhaps you could put that on a different page instead of making it the first thing people read.

Sites like yours should focus on the five W's:
Who you are
What you do
Why you are better than anyone else
Where can people find you
When are you open

Simple and effective.

I'll get back to it!

eld,

How about clickable images that lead to larger pics for your house brand speakers. Also, some speaker specs would be nice. Wmax, Wrms, db spl, and freq. range. Although specs don't tell you the whole story noobs like me like to compare specs.

Most of my sentiment has already been spoken, except..

Make this image smaller: hwy__rvr_peaks.jpg
It's on the 'who are we page.

This image is 1286x1800, and around 900k, yet you display this as a 123x172 img.

Just my suggestion.

You need a front page with some bling bling! Maybe completed cars or project cars.

very nice, eld. when i trade in this tsx for a new one, or a tl, i'll drive up from socal and have you do a new system. i like your explanations of your philosophy (which i wholeheartedly agree with), and your comments about your products. i know you can't do everything on the web site, but a couple of differen't systems for different cars at different price points would be cool. bets of luck with your venture.

The site looks good, I really like the security, video and the one speaker brand. It will really be cool once you start adding some pics of systems.

OK, thanks to all for their valuable comments. I haven't had time to re-work the images in Photoshop yet (this week) but I have redone the home page with a sidebar to make the purpose clear up front, I've tightened up the layout from page to page, etc.

Today my installer started. I've known since he was in high school (about 8 years) and he has worked for/with me before. Does great work, great guy, glad to have him. We loaded the kiosk today (will post pics tomorrow).

This week the Clifford, a/d/s/, Directed Video, DLS coaxials, and assorted install parts should arrive, as well as my credit card machine : )

Anyway, please feel free to continue with feedback and as soon as I get the cardboard box guy to make me the boxes I need, avincar speakers will be available!
