5 channel amp

I took out my 12 and bass amp. Now I just have a 4 channel amp running my mids and highs. Thinking about getting a 5 channel amp and running a single 10. Looking for great sound quality. Can't seem to find many 5 Channel amps outside of JL or Alpine. Any other suggestions???

you still arent being clear...I mean all a 5 channel amp is, is 3 amps all in 1 package, same exact thing as having 2 seperate physical amps (a 4 channel and a mono sub amp). Just because you think your current sub amp is too much, doesnt mean you cant get a lesser power one or just put that amp on a smaller sub in a sealed enclosure and turn the bass down some. You just arent making sence to me on why you just have to have a 5 channel amp - there is no better SQ or anything to be gained, only thing to be gained is you only have 1 power and ground wire...maybe you need to say what exactly you used to have, what the problem was, and what exactly you have now or want to have.

Had two amps before, My bass was too much and I wanted a 4 channel set up for my fronts and rears, previously I only had two channels and I couldn't fade or anything. Now that I have the 4 channel my mids and highs sound perfect. I'm thinking about a 5 channel amp because a) I dont' want to run another power wire b) i only want one amp taking up space c) want to keep the system simple and to the point d) i like the idea of only one amp to push the whole system

Ok Ya I kinda understand now...but only the fact that you personally like the fact of one amp - for whatever reason - but if that is what you want, then more power to you. For the power wire issue, all you have to do is get a power/ground distribution block. Then you will run your main power and ground into it and put that by your amp(s) and run the power and grounds to them. So you wont have to run another power wire - other than a few more feet to the other amp. for b) most 5 channel amps arent small at all, probably not much of a difference than two amps. C)...ok I guess. d)...its not 1 amp, its 1 box with 3 amps in it like I said.

sorry if I am not help and sound like I am just messing with you, I just dont think its worth the hassle. If you had too much bass before, turn your amp down or get a smaller sub...simple as that (the way you like it )

I've been eyeballing the Memphis Belle from www.memphiscaraudio.com. Seems to be well respected. They have a big Belle and a Baby Belle. I also know that Alpine has one called the MRV-F540.

i've used all three of the aforementioned amps and if you are serious about having true sound quality then the best is the boston amp by far. The down side is it is the most expensive of the group. To be honest though any ought to be that any of them will work fine so long as you get an installer that actually tunes the amp to what you want sound level wise.

It's a very good amp, but Helix is still not cheap. If you can afford it, definitely go that way.

I carry DLS - they have three 5-channel amps, a Classic 50 x 4 and 170 x 1, a Reference 50 x 4 and 250 x 1, and an Ultimate A7. The IASCA SQ champion car I heard had 2 A7s in it (L and R, running 4 channels each), so there's certainly no knocking that performance.

I don't think they are importing the Reference 5-channel yet... it's not on my price list. What's your budget?

Eld,

they are NOT importing the Refernce 5 channel as of now.. at least that is what my installer said.. as I was thinking of going the reference route at first.. then stepped up.

I can vouch for DLS stuff.. TOP notch... also not cheap.. but still very high quality.

doesn't Zapco make a 5 channel?

I actually take some heat from my Directed friends for not carrying PPI... but IMO they are all too damn big.

And I wasn't that big a fan of Battlestar Galactica : )

w/ all this why not get a memphis belle?

but if you already have a 4 ch u like, i don't think it'd be too much more work to add just a sub amp. it might even be less work than taking out the amp you have. you can just add a distro block to the power wire. and distro the ground, or just run a new ground wire. course running 1 amp is still pretty cool, i can't argue w/ that

i've been running my memphis ST amps for easily the last 5 years and have never had a problem with them.

if you are really into SQ and NEED top of the line stuff, then i'd consider the Helix, and other top of the line stuff. but w/ memphis speakers, i think the memphis amp is still very good, and would suit your needs better.

There are a few good 5 channel amps, including all the ones mentioned above. I use alot of the Memphis Belle - good, clean amp, powerful and a decent price. I've probably installed 20 - 25 of them and have sold many more - nice thing is, not one problem yet

All channels in the Memphis have their own seperate power supplies, not just one running the whole amp.

I will ALWAYS disagree that it makes a danned bit of difference using the same amp and speaker brands together. The electrons just don't care.

StreetEffectz: On the baby Belle, can you bridget the four channel and get 110 watts per channel? Are the Memphis underrated for power? And lastly, is $550 a good price?

Thinking about driving Diamond Audio D3 (Nom/Max - 60/120 watts @ 91dB) or should I move up into the D6s (nom/max 100/200 @90db).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

One more thing: Scott P said earlier in this thread that there wasn't much difference between the Alpine MRV-F450 and the Memphis for most people. How do the two compare for a non-audiophile ear not trying to compete or blow away people?
http://iweb.alpine-usa.com/pls/admn/...in=10&p_more=y

Considering the Alpine is about $400...Memphis is @ $550.
