Replacing sub/amp in Bose system....

Easy swap?

The factory radio does a nice job of filling in the lows, I want a little more than that. My OWN amp and MY choice of sub. Is this possible and relatively easy?

Thanks!

sure its easy, if you've done it before. If not, i would suggest having a someone with experience do it for you.

Your idea of "swap" will cost you more than you think b/c you'd have to change out your speaker wires, rca wires, etc. and that requires running wiries from your car battery all the way to your trunk (usually requires going under the carpet of your car). so its not just an EASY SWAP.

Well, Ive installed PLENTY of systems before.

Why cant I use the stock wiring? What is the gauge on the power lead? I only want ~ 2-300W rms amp. I have no problems rigging the mounting for the sub. So the gauge doesnt need to be beefy at all. Im thinking even 10-12G should be fine w/those numbers.

I thought elduderino said that all you need to do is splice in some RCA connectors.

That would be hot.

Anyone now know what gauge the Amp's power lead is?

Use this wiring diagram to help you...

This is what I did to make it easier

I bought a used stock amp for $20 on ebay and used the connection piece.

Mostly.

The diagrams I have seen appear to ME that there is the HU amp fo rhte 4 speakers, and a seperate amp, that sits in the rear for the sub.

Im sorry I just dont have time to search through the abundance of information on this site. If I missed it, can you please tell me.

Thanks in advance!

The TL I don't know about. On the CL all you do is follow the FAQ instructions. The CL doesn't have a factory sub, so all I did was splice in a LOC to the rear speakers.
