replacing bose headunit in tl...

hey im thinking about buying a 99-2001 tl.....i have a maxima right now. i want to know if the bose headunit can be replaced without swapping the speakers. ino in the maxima the bose speakers are self amplified so a converter is needed to swap headunits. its also runs at a differen ohm....is this the same for the tl?

Yes you can. If your new deck has a high enough preamp voltage that will work or you can use an adapter like a Soundgate XR4 or a Peripherial Vendetta4.4.

the bose system starts w/the CD or Radio, then the signal goes to an offboard EQ which boosts the treble ridiculously to compensate for the lack of tweeters, and then returns back into the headunit for further amplification, and then the signal is sent to the speakers.

yeah it is quite a pain in the ass to work with, but if you replace the headunit, you are all set. only drawback, is that you lose the functionality of hte stock subwoofer, but then again perfect excuse to get an aftermarket one
