removing HU

Hey guys, I have decided to forego a new HU and just install my amp and subs today. I'll be receiving the signal off my speaker wires that come from the Bose amp in the trunk to the 6X9's.

My question is, how do you remove the HU from the dash? I have to tap the remote wire to connect to my amp but this HU is not coming out easy. Do I have to remove the center console on up to the wood trim?

What do you suggest I do about this pesky remote cable? I am guessing it is just easiest to get behind the Bose HU and tap the wire there before it goes to my radio remote switch/steering wheel.

Thank you in advance (i have to go to family dinner so i'll check back later)

Plus, I am wondering where in the trunk should I mount the amp?I was thinking about just putting it on the sub box. That way, when a thief steals the system they will not do that much damage tearing out the amp....just a thought, although this is the first car I've owned that has an alarm.

It would probably help if you said what car you have.

If I were you I'd grab ALL these wires at the amp in the trunk. It's behind the trunk liner... pass side, I think.

And if your alarm is bone stock, good luck (read my alarm posts : )

my alarm is stock, that's great to hear...I'm looking at the wiring diagram Elduderino sent me and it shows the remote wire only going to the steering wheel. Infact, except for the power cables, all other wires go back to the amp before dispering around my vehicle. I just need some ideas for my remote wire to hook up to the amp.

Is there another wire I can hook up to my sub's amp to tell it to turn on and off?

Your remote wire is at the amp (otherwise how would it turn on?). You are following the remote control wire for the steering wheel buttons.

Hey duderino, could the wire i'm looking for that goes from the HU to the Bose amp be labeled, 'power in' or 'ignition'? I know its a stupid question but those are the only wires coming in to the amp that are not used for speakers, from what I can tell

Actually, upon closer inspection the 'ignition' wire is connected to underdash fuse/relay box which is labeled "HOT in ACC or RUN" as apposed to other components like the radio itself which are connected to the underhood fuse/relay box which is labeled "HOT AT ALL TIMES"

So i think I answered my own question, splice a wire off the "ignition" line going to my Bose stock preamp to my Rockford Fosgate amp. I have to get this done soon because I am at work right now and the fact that I'll be back here for my Monday morning meeting in 10 hours is pretty lame.
