Remove Bose Sub?

Hello,

I know this may get moved to the audio forum, but I first read about it here. Someone said you get better bass response (with a seperate aftermarket sub obviously) if you remove the Bose subwoofer. Has anyone done this?

Peace,

Joe

I removed mine when I installed my 10 W6, at the recommendation of my local shop. Sounds great. Don't know what it would sound like with the stock sub in but my guess would be not as good.

I HAVE TWO 12'S JL AUDIO W6 AND I HAD DISCONECTED MY BOSE SUB BECAUSE THE INSTALL TECH SAID IT WOULD DISTORT THE FACTORY SOB WHEN THE BASS HIT IT SOUNDED GOOD BUT LATER I RECONECTED IT TOO SEE IF I WOULD GET A LIL BETER SOUND WITH IT AND IT WAS COOL IT WAS ACCTUALLY A BETTER SOUND I JUST MAKE SURE I KEEP THE REA ARMREST PASS THROUGH OPEN SO THE BASS CAN VENT

YMMV

What I hadn't realized is when they installed my sub box they DID disconnect the stock sub. I was wondering what it would sound like with the sub physically removed.

To be honest I'm not sure which I prefer. It sounds like depending on what frequency the bass is, w/o the stock sub there it's stronger on very low and weaker on the upper lows.

For example DnB sounds good but techno, doesn't.

I think I like the idea of the arm rest open better. Good idea

Thanks,

Joe

I don't know about you guys but when I put my 2 12's i had to remove the bose sub. The bose sub was rattling from all the bass in the trunk after i removed the sub the bass was much cleaner and a lot more louder inside.
