http://www.mypushcart.com . click on remote starts under auto security products. then select #9901. the range is not that long but good enough for me from the balcony of my apartment and for my 91 accord.

Yes, you can do this quite easily.....I'd recommend using a DEI Valet Remote Start unit, model 551T.....you can set it so 3 presses of the lock button back to back to back will start the car....only downside, the range on the factory remote stinks

How much does remote start cost, with keep the factory remotes and the DEI unit?

I have never seen a remote start that works on a manual...don't know why but I don't think its possible...maybe since the clutch needs to be down to start it?

park in gear?? but then if the car is turned on, its in gear, clutch is not engaged...wouldn't it just stall immediately?

The ones that are legal only start with the car in N, & the parking break on. If you start it with the car in gear, the car would fly forward on it's own, That would not be good.

as far as getting the remote start to work on a manual - it's easy...
all you have to do is either by pass teh clutch switch - it is a button like thing that gets depressed when you press down on the clutch in order for the car to start. the hondata has a similar switch that you wire up in the stage 3 units and above (my old car). you can also ghetto rig the thing and tape the switch down and the car will not only start normally with the key without pressing the clutch down, but you will also be able to auto start it as well.
audio and security stores do not do the install on manuals due to liability reasons with idiots who leave their car in gear with the autostart feature adn slam into the car parked in front of them.
let me dig up a pic to help explain this...
