Recommend A Good FM Modulator

i am looking for an FM Modulator to use with my setup.

i am currently using DOM's navigation converstion and a ps2 slim in the glovebox and wireless controllers to go along with it. and i am not so interested in the sound quality as long as theres no static or whitenoise ill be happy, but id rather have an FM Modulator than an FM Transmitter and ive been searching around and a few people have been using the Audiovox FM Modulator any other suggestions?

i researched the soundgate aux3 just now and it looks solid...

el duderino have u used this before? with ur customers....and if so does it work by a seperate switch or how many times you press on the button its hooked up to (ie. if i were to put this on the XM aux input, and i hooked up my PS2 SLIM and an IPOD to it, would i have to press the XM button twice for the PS2 SLim and 3 times for the IPOD?

I just got three in but I haven't used it myself. I got a recommendation from someone else, but no personal experience (I did get this recommended over the PAC switcher, though...)

There is a 3-position round rocker switch.

Soundgate tech tells me that the switch takes 12V in from the unit and can send it to either or neither of the two 12V activation inputs. That allows you to NOT use the switch and to use a device's Remote-turn-on lead to switch.

Are there any drawbacks to soundgate? Soundgate vs blitzsafe?

Well the blitz and soundgate aux in adapters for Hondas are the same thing with different stickers on them, so I kinda doubt it...

theres alot of problems with blitzsafe for 04 tl's why will this work and the blitzsafe won't? im just trying to get barings on this because a lot of people are having trouble finding ways to get aux input sound with ipods/dvd players and everyone resorts to FM Modulators or Transmitters unless they live in canada where they have an open aux. because they don't get XM satellite radio

So WHAT is your question?

I understood you to have XM in your 2004 TSX. The 2004 TSX is compatible with a Blitzsafe that's good, (no bad firmware) or with the Soundgate version of the same Honda adapter. It has RCA in. Take the RCA out of the XM and the audio RCA out of the DVD player and run them INTO the RCA inputs of the AUX3. Take the RCA output of the AUX3 and run it INTO the SHOND adapter.

THere is no theory to any of this...

So we have 2 options...blitzsafe and soundgate correct? Are thee any drawbacks for the 05 tsx with navi? I read something about once they are installed you have to hit the xm button twice to switch to the auxillary input. This is where I am getting confused.

do you have to cut wires for either blitz or soundg?

CJ, I think you are confused a bit about what I was talking about.

There is a thread in the FAQ section about AUX input adapters. For the 2004 TSX the Blitz and the Soundgate work and are identical and made by the same company (others may not be identical but this one is). If you have nav, you either need to buy and mod the cable or buy the Blitz that comes with one, as I recall.

However, for the 2005 TSX the XM interferes with the operation of the Blitz/SG. Doesn't work.

So the XM interferes with the Blitz/SG? That must be the problem I herd about. IS there a way around it? How does it interefere? Dammit Jim! I knew it couldn't be that easy!

CJ there was something about in the wiring where you could put a switch on a yellow wire or something so then you would be able to do it. search for it

Eld- I have a 2005 TSX and was thinking of getting an Audiocontrol Four.1 and running the audio of a DVD player to its auxillary input instead of using a blitz and aux3 adapters. The Four.1 has master volume control so I still can control the volume of the DVD. Do you see any draw backs? I am going to be adding a JL e6450, jl xr components and a 12w3v2 and would like to have some basic eq'ing available. Any opinions?

I haven't used a 4.1 for a LONG time. Historically I liked AC xovers but had noise in the EQ's, and I've heard that installing the 4.1 is a bear from the mechanical point of view.

On paper that's exactly how it's supposed to work, but from a stock look perspective and from a sound quality perspective, I always recommend taking the money for the EQ and spending it on better F components. Your amp at 50 wpc isn't big enough to take much EQ-ing without running out of power (remember 3dB more is 2X the watts at that note...) so I'd rather see you get a system with better F comps, an easier install, and less chance of engine noise.

Well if I ditch the 6450 for a 500/5 and the four.1, that should help some? I just don't want to be the tester for the aux3 since nobody seems to have used it yet. $100 for the blitz and $60 for aux3 seems like an expensive trial and error. Maybe I will just stick with upgrading the amp and speakers and skip the video for now. Thanks eld
