Rear Deck Speaker Question

I sat in the back seat yesterday for the first time since owning my 08 TSX. If you ask my wife, I should say that it was the first time I sat in the back of "her" TSX.
Anyways, I noticed there was plenty of sound comming from the door speakers, but none comming from the rear deck speakers. I heard some bass, but I couldn't tell if it was from the rear deck speakers or door speakers. It seemed very strange, there was no sound comming from the rear deck speakers. What should I look for?

The rear deck speakers are only fed low frequencies and act as a sort of "subwoofer".

Thanks for the info. I checked the speakers last night when I went to the car wash, I turned up the volume to about 20 and sure enough, they vibrate and are creating a sound, just a very low sound. So I guess as you said, they are just there for bass.

Thanks.

Did you notice a considerable increase in bass? All you did was change out the rear speakers?

Also, what model did you get? I can't find the Alpine Type RS 6x9's. Where did you get them, how much? I wouldn't mind adding more bass without addiing a sub.

You could check-out woofersEtc.com. They have a large selection of car audio. I think I've seen several 5-6 inch subs that might click in the rear doors.

I'd rather replace the 6x9's in the rear and leave the rear door speakers alone since the rear deck speakers are the ones that are for the bass. The rear door speakers seem to mainly send mid's.

yea it was increase bass a good amount too.

the door speakers need spacers, it was quite a pain removing had a shop help me with them since the oem speakers were useless to reuse as spacers.

Of course

found these FIY:
http://www.woofersetc.com/p3077/CL69...dsubwoofer.htm

might require more power than is available with stock amp.

I am running the CDT CL 69's off the stock amp. defenite improvement over stock. I will look to give them more power in the future using the alpine ktp-445.

Search for JTso's 'starter motor' crank pulley method of removing the crank pulley (for a TSX). Can't be much different for a CL.
