Radio stays on

As of about 2 weeks ago, my radio remains on for about 5 seconds after truning off the ignition. Sometimes it seems to go a little longer. It doesn't matter if I'm playing a CD, tape or listening to the radio. After the timeout it shuts off normally. I can't find anything in the manual on how to set this up if I actually wanted it, which I don't.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

strange. Is it the factory radio or and aftermarket install? There is a circuit in the car that stays engergized until the door is opened (so you can roll windows up or down even after shuting off the car), but the head unit shouldnt be on that line. It may be coincidence that time when you said the head turned off only after you opened the door. Unless you see that happen again, I would discount it as a possibility.
Not sure what is causing it. You would have to see what circuit the head is wired to if it is an aftermarket install. That would be the first place to look. If all is wired correctly, then its the turn off delay circuit in the head thats going bad OR possibly if you have an amp wired up, the turn on circuit of the amp maybe leaking voltage backwards, and that could cause your head to stay on for a few extra seconds. I did once see that before (i was a professional installer for 15 years)

Well since i long ago pulled out the stock stuff i cant test it for myself to see if its normal for the factory head to stay entergized after shutting the car off and before opening the door. It might be designed that way??? IF not, then the head is bad, and you should just get it replaced under warranty. It may not be a big deal now, but it could get to be a worse problem later on, and after the warranty runs out.

Wow...thanks for the responses. Everything is factory. It's a 99 3.2 TL with the BOSE system. I do have something plugged into the power socket inside the center arm rest, but it's rarely on. Still, I'll try unplugging it and see if that changes things.
As for the door opening, I've written that off as a coincidence. Yesterday, however, the radio stayed on for 12 seconds (I timed it) after removing the key from the ignition. I'm actually a little worried it may stay on indefinitely at some point so I've started turning it off.
Thanks again for the responses, I'll let you know if anything comes of the power socket idea.

SOLVED!!!
Thank you StanMan and others! I had something plugged into the power inside the arm rest. It was a 12 adapter for a handheld HAM radio, but it wasn't actually plugged into the radio itself. So, the adapter was plugged in but it was just "hanging" there. As soon as I unplugged it, the radio shut off was back to normal. Plugging it in caused the delay again, so I feel confident this was the culprit. I can only speculate if the circuit completes (even if not used) it keeps the all accesories on for a few seconds until it discharges.
I'd be curious if others can reproduce it, but at least I know what caused it. Of course, you'd need to be stuck with a factory system like me. Although I will say it's the nicest stock system I've had.
Thanks again!

For what it's worth... It must be in the older models???? I have a 2002 TLS with stock factory bose system and I keep my cell phone with charger plugged into the center armrest power socket, yet I don't have the delay problem????
