TL: Radio draining battery + high pitched noise?
Radio draining battery + high pitched noise?
Returned from a two week vacation to find my 2G non-nav TL dead. Got it jumped, turned on the radio and it had a high pitched noise after a few minutes coming from the speakers. I turned it off, went to the office, came out and it was dead again. Got it jumped, battery tested fine, and figured it had to be something with the radio so I pulled the fuse on it. Car has been fine ever since.
I thought maybe it was just the HU, so I bought another one on eBay and popped it in this weekend, still had the noise. I was afraid to keep the fuse in because I live in a townhome and couldn't park it in front in case I needed to charge the battery in the morning.
So, I'm at a bit of a loss. I'd hate to spend $350 for Car Toys to bypass the Bose system and install a new HU. They said they can do diagnostics for $85 an hour. I have one more local shop to check with, but I was wondering if anyone else had any idea as to what this might be. I'm assuming some sort of grounding issue, but I have no clue where to even start looking. Thought I'd check with you guys before I start throwing money at it.
Thanks for any help!
