Radar Detector Hardwire

undefinedundefinedundefined

Can anyone tell me the best way to hardwire a radar detector into the 2005 TSX?

I've recently purchased one (used to have an Integra) and would dearly love to hardwire the detector in rather than have that ratty cigarette plug cord hanging all over the dash.

Thanks!

What kindof radar detector? I hardwired my V1 into the power for the overhead lights and ran the power supply out next to the line for the rearview mirror. The power is available all the time and it works pretty well. Its a lot more simple than the listed DIY install, but mine doesn't have the concealed display (but its high up on the window - hard to see).

Hey TSXsurf...do you have a version 1.8 or 1.7 valentine. I have a 1.7 and I have had trouble fitting it where your talking about.

I just got tint and I'm thinking about permanently mounting it to the back windshield. I can get power from the back since I have an amp back there already. What do you think of that setup?

I think I have the 1.7. Is that the one that's slightly bigger? I can take a picture where I have it mounted if you're interested. My rear coverage probably isn't as good as it could be because where its mounted, but from driving around and passing past cops, the coverage seems to work good enough for me.

I've never seen one mounted in the back, but i think that would be a cool setup. The tint should protect it, but when you are parked in the sun for a long period of time, you might want to remove it - those metal cases can get really hot.

Yeah...a pic would be great!!
Why do you think the rear coverage isn't as good? Is there something in the way behind the radar?

Yeah....I'm thinking about putting it in the back. I already have the concealed display, but I would have to get the remote audio control too, so I can turn it on and off. I agree about leaving it up at all times. I've felt how hot mine gets in the sun. My tint has heat rejection...and I'm hoping that would help it, but I if it would be bad for the radar to never take it down.

I'll post a pic after the weekend..

Technically there isn't anything behind the radar, but its up towards the ceiling, so it doesn't have the best line of sight to the back of the car. It works, but people in here have talked about "optimal coverage" is when its in the middle of the windshield.
