Power Wire

I do not know about the 2nd Gen TL's. All I did was run mine through an existing grommet(sp?) There are plenty of web pages that will give you a rule of thumb of what guage wire to run and at what length. How much power are you planning to run? What size amps? What kind if current do those amps draw?

What is the size of the amp(s)? My RF punch 400.4 will only take up to an 8AWG power cable. Bigger 'n 400 wats, or multiple amps, you could consider a 4AWG cable. Honestly, from an enginering standpoint, it is a waste to go bigger than 8AWG for the power. There just isn't that much power in the battery.

As for the hole in the fire wall, look under the driver side dash, to the upper left of the brake pedal. Poke a pen or something through the hole (nothing sharp or that will break), and look for it under the hood. There is your pass-through.

Install Doctor has some very good info. Nothing specific to the TL, but they are not that much different than other Hondas in these respects (although Bose probably uses different wiring harness schemes).

There are also a few good install kits available. I just did my 2001 Accord, and the Rockford Fosgate power kit made it a breeze.

Smile Also trying a Search usually gets good results.

Read my post here. Also you should run at least a 4 guage power wire. That should hold you for a while.

Pics of my system coming this weekend

How many amps did you run, and at what power? What made you decide to go with 4 gauge wire? I'm just curious - all of the equations say it doesn't matter, but I've been around long enough to know experience counts for something :-)

I look forward to your pics!

run 4 guage for your setup

8 should be the minimum. if your using something thinner than 8 guage, its probably not even worth upgrading a system
