Re: Question on 6.5 Door Speakers

Ok, since I get looks and no response, I'll phrase it this way: Would it be "advisable" to Mix Pioneer and another Brand ? Split up the Fronts from the Backs Brandwise. I've got A6995s coming for back. If there is a better 6.5 for up front, give me a yell.

i would say it's okay to mix brands meaning differents brands for both the fronts and rears. it's not like a 5.1 set up at home where you need matching speakers for sound continuity from left to center to right to rears. what you'll be hearing up front in your cl is mostly sound coming out of the front speakers. i use the rears just as backfills...so i ended up getting alpines. they were cheap but otherwise good for what i need them for. my fronts are infinities ( but am saving up to get a diff pair...maybe cdt).

i have the infinity reference series 6.5. they fit but you need to remove the plastic basket that hold the stock speakers. the infinity reference i have are okay but i'm thinking of changing them. i'm not sure yet which ones to get. but the infinities are pretty good for the price you'd pay for them....and the tweeters are a perfect fit too.

I'd go with the Image Dynamics Chameleon 6.5 components. $399 and the best sounding speakers I've heard to date.

Requires cutting and a large amp

MB Quart DSD216 component sets. What you need is a thick spacer (3/4 in.) If you dont wanna keep the x-overs in the door panel, you need an extra set of speaker wire running to each door :P

If you wanna stick with pioneer (premier) go TSE-1695. I think I have them for about $150 for the set.

Unfortunately I have not done a "side-by-side" comparison, but the Infinity's sound incredible! For me, just about anything was better than the Bose speakers! Good Luck!

Decided

Pioneer Premier TS-604 6.5s for the Doors
Pionner A6995 6x9s for Rear
1 12 MTX 8000 Sub

That should do me. Mono Amp for the Sub ? How would / should we hook these up ?
