Is it possible to remove the old amp and use the power and the line level sub signal to another amp?
Why does everybody runs the power cable from battery?
I'm a newbie so u'll have to bear with my limited knowledge.
I'm kinda scared to run cable from the battery to the amp.
All I wanna do is add another 10" sub in place of stock sub. But I guess I need an amp to run it.
I was able to remove the door panel and put it back on
And as everybody else I'm surprised to see the stock POS BLOWS speakers. Waiting for my 3.9Ohm resistors pack
Any help will be welcome. Thanks

I assume you mean that you only want to replace the subwoofer amp? If so, it is mounted in the rear of the back seat. I am not exactly sure about the wiring issues, because I haven't dealt with the subamp yet myself. If you're not replacing it with a monster amp, you should be able to disconnect the input wires from the stock subamp and feed them to the new amp. You would probably have to extend them, because you will have to end up mounting the new amp in the trunk.
The Battery is the CLEANEST source of power that the car has to offer. It acts like a giant regulator and filter, especially when you add a giant 1 farad cap to the system as well. It is your best place to connect to prevent engine alternator whine from getting into your highpowered audio. However, new heavier wiring and caps are only required when you REALLY jump up in power with the subamp and subwoofer. So depending upon how big and how loud you are planning to go would determine whether you should run a new power and/or signal wires from the Battery and the front head unit to the new amp. Actually, I should rephrase that... Depending upon how big and how loud you are planning to go would determine whether you could get away with leaving the stock wiring intact. To be legit' you should probably replace the wiring to any significant sized subamp. But if you're just talking moderate power with a cleaner sounding sub... perhaps you could just extend the wiring from the stock subamp?
Others on this board are better qualified to answer your specific questions here. I just couldn't stand to see your post set idle... I'm sure others will come along to help, if for nothing else but to see what ramblings I have posted this time! LOL
Good luck!

Thx Southbound
U've been most helpfull to all of us, u know that.
I'm more into SQ than SPL. I was wondering if I could put the new amp in place of the stock one, so that I can save the trouble of running wire from the battery. I'll be happy with 10" free air sub and 200-250W amp running it.
I just wanted to know if anybody had done something like that. The stock system is such a POS, even kicker RMB8 can't be run with it. I guess, as u said, clean power is an issue here. Let's hope somebody has an answer.
One more question regarding terminator mod, Southbound.
I opened up my home theater speakers yesterday and found out that it has a small passive crossover ckt (witha a small ckt board and all) attached to it. Where should the Terminator mod ckt be placed. Before the passive crossover ckt or after (i mean directly across the speaker terminals)?

Although low-level signal to the stock amp may be reused to provide a signal for a new amp, the stock power wire to the stock amp is about a #16 or #14 size and grouped in a wiring harness with the signal. It is not large enough to reuse for an aftermarket amp nor would you want to if your after SQ. In addition, the stock amp is about 4"x3" making it very difficult to mount a new amp in the same location.
