All,
I’m sorry for not making time and putting this info up before. (good things come to those who wait). First, I want to let you all know that I sell (navi-tv tuner) and do professional installation. I’m located in east cost, Philadelphia, PA. So those in east cost wants to get this done professionally can contact me @ (to_unplug@yahoo.com).
Anyways, here are the details.
If you never done installation of any kind, I would rate difficulty level 8.5 on scale of 10 & 6.5-7 if you have done stereo installations.
1st you’ll need Navi-TV tuner, which you can buy from me (help me out) & about a half a day to do install with some help.
You will need to remove the back seat, armrest, cup holder, both of the trays under navi-unit & the center console. Or remove the the side panel (front & back on both sides) Run the wires (2 power, fm modulation, IR, &Toggle Switch cable) through the center console. It is also a good I idea to run at least one RCA cable for future use. Hook up the first power wire to the cigarette adapter that is in front & 2nd power to the outlet in armrest. Plug in the FM modulation cable (located on right side under the navi-unit). Fish through the IR & toggle switch by the red tray, which is not an ashtray. Once this is complete, test that everything works; Plug in the Navi-TV tuner unit. Hook up all of the cable & antennas. This is pretty much plug-n-play, no wire cutting necessary at all. Power it up make sure it works completely before putting everything back. You can mount the Navi-TV tuner anywhere you desire; I think, under the dvd unit in the back is a good place. Easy access or u can hide it on side. You can mount it with double side tape or u can zip tie it.
Computer get hooked up with RCA or SVGA. Navi-TV tuner had svga input. Quality of this isn't all that grate. One can get by for mp3's and movies. But to do actual work it pretty much sux fas as the resolution of the screen.
Resever camera get hooked to the reverse lights in the back; thus, when car goes in reverse the dispaly automatically comes up and shuts down when gear is changed to driver. Mount point can be various; inside back windshield where the rear brake light is on top of that or drill hole in the back bumper/numberplate/ etc. I prefer inside the car because you get wider view angle and its safe & secure for everything(rain, theft, getting knocked around)
Sound quality, its clear. I think FM modulation works grate. Its same as your local FM radio stations that you hear. With out the static :-)
Enjoy!!! *** RogerPodacter ** thanks buddy
Navi-tv tuner cost is 495+ shipping, & you can email regarding installation prices.

Hey unplug, great new. Will this work w/a reverse camera? Also how does it hook up and work w/ a computer? Does the FM modulation sound ok? I have heard bad things.
Anyways on another point. You can't just link to clubtsx, but iwll have to run 2 different chats on both groups. This one is more active. The problem is that many of us are banned over there.

I belong to the AcuraMDX.org forum/ There was a group buy of a plug and play tuner plus a rear view camera for MDXs on that site earlier this year. I bought it, had it installed by the local Best Buy shop and now we have a Clarion overhead monitor/flip down screen, a Blaupunkt DVD/MP3 player, a tv tuner w/diversity antenna all of which can be played through the Nav screen and the flip down screen. The rear view camera is activated when I put it into reverse or can be wired into one of the 3 video channels for full time-real time viewing. The sound is played through the radio with an FM modulator. Everthing works great. We've hooked up the PS2 to the unit also. The player is under the driver's seat and tuner unit is on top of the Nav unit under the passenger seat. The TV tuner works ok, but as someone mentioned above, it tends to get fuzzy as the car moves around. A powered antenna might correct that, but it also depends on how far you are from the tv transmitter. Some stations work fine for us here in Phoenix. There is a cutout switch to enable the pictures to get to the Nav screen. It is sort of illegal to have the movies viewed from the front seat, which is why the e-brake needs to be engaged to get that picture. The cutout eliminates that feature. I don't look when we're on the road (LOL) but the wife in the passenger seats likes to watch.

I need to dig out my photo cd with the pictures and find the threads on the MDX forum.
I mounted the camera inside the back window under the third brake light. There was lots of discussion on positions for the camera. Outside mounting has its own set of issues namely security and whether to mount it high or low. Some MDX owners drilled a hole near the license plate and mounted it between the door panel and the outside body. I didn't have the heart to do that. Some mounted it low under the bumper. The high, inside position gives a greater field of view in my estimation, but at night there is a glare off the back window. Not insurmountable, and even though it is a night vision camera, the glare can fog up the view. But you don't want to rely on that camera alone. Daytime viewing is great. It takes some adjustment to figure the distances, but if you see a vertical image its probably a pole or a person and its time to stop.

Ace, I seem to have tossed the photos I had of my RES installation on the MDX, but you can go to this link on the MDX forum to see some of the equipment that we got through the group buy.

If that doesn't work, let me know and I whip out the digital again and get a few shots.

$500 not bad for parts. Do you know of any reputable places in Texas that will do this and is this a well known practice among radio installers? If the prices are right, I would really consider driving my TSX to you when I get it in September (but that would be a last resort
). But is there anyway to play DVD's without another DVD source like PS2 or aftermarket DVD player? I could care less about TV or PS2. Even adding an aftermarket DVD player where you put your PS2 isn't that bad either. Is there a single source part instead of the Navi-TV unit? I've had a motorized TV unit in my accord and reception was crap so I wouldn't even bother watchin TV.

Here's another link to the acuramdx.org forum that talks about the rear view camera mount. Its a large one --almost 20 pages or more -- but interesting reading if you're thinking about the camera and nav unit and have a spare couple of hours.

I had my stuff installed at the local Best Buy shop in Glendale, AZ. They were into it even tho this was the first one they tried and they did a great job. The nav unit will not play movie dvd's. You need a separate player. I got a Blaupunkt DVD/MP3 player and put it under the driver's seat. A few MDX'ers use the PS2 because you can play DVDs and games on the same unit. The Nav/TV tuner/backup camera unit is the only one I'm aware of although there are a couple versions available now. Most of us with the '01 MDX got ours because that year didn't have a factory installed RES unit or rear view camera. The '03 models came with that option, but used a similar unit to play DVDs through the nav screen. Some days we get great TV reception, some days not. It depends a lot on how far you are from the transmitter.
Anyway, the kids love it on long trips in the SUV.

FM Modulator
I think that my FM modulator may have gone bad, but I'm not sure. I routed my FM modulator (for my TV tuner from avelectronic) through the center console. Will this get interference from anywhere? I tried getting sound through the speakers, but the quality is absolutely horrendous. I have tried every odd numbered station between 88.0 and 92.0, but there is a ridiculous amount of static. Has anyone had trouble with their FM modulator? How can I get sound from my TV tuner to the speakers without using an FM modulator and without cutting away the XM radio capabilities?

I can't use these
I can't use these adapters because I already have XM radio installed in my 2004 EX V6. Are there any other adapter that allow me to still keep the XM radio capabilities? What about other options (besides deleting the use of XM radio)? I have heard that I might be able to take out the XM radio male plug, plug in the above adapter into the back of the headunit, and then plug in the avelectronic TV tuner into the stereo source of the adapter. Couldn't I just find out which wires are the left and right channels on the XM radio harness, cut them, split and splice them into RCA cables, and then plug those into the TV tuner? I think the four wires that I would need were the left channel (both positive and negative) and right channel (both positive and negative). Would I lose any capabilities as far as touch screen, navigation voice, etc?
Don't run two different signals from two different units into the same input line. You need to switch between them somehow.
You could use or build a source switcher. Soundgate says they have one (not on the website but he says it's not been updated) called the AUX3. Switches among 3 sets of RCA inputs.
On a side note, the guy at Soundgate was an ass. He was telling me that the XM Radio from the factory for the TSX used the AUX input. I politely disagreed with him, explaining that it was FM modulated. HE then told me that he was referring to the TL kit being installed INTO a TSX, and then he told me that the TL version is being used on the TSX by many people. (I fail to see how the TL version is "factory" for a TSX, but never mind).
Not sure why you are asking the last question...

elduderino, the TV tuner can switch between 3 sources. I have a DVD player hooked up to one source (AV1), and I'm looking to hook up the XM radio (with spliced RCA cables) into the second source (AV2). I can then switch between the two using the included remote. I just want to know if I can splice the wires from the XM radio into RCA cables.
I talked with a guy from radio shack, and, apparently, in an RCA cable, there are actually TWO wires in each cable. The center (and electrically isolated) positive wire is in the center, and the negative (ground) is on the outside, twisted around the positive center wire.

Look if you are trying to grab the audio lines out of the XM and run them into the tuner, you will need three wires: L (+), R (+), and Signal ground. Even though signal ground looks like two wires, these conductors are commoned in the XM tuner, and so are electrically the same.
This is the same thing that I did with my Alpine XM tuner and the AUX in on my Nakamichi. Fortunately, the Alpine had an Ai-NET port and I grabbed the audio out of that (Ai-NET wiring is published). I would need a wiring diagram on your XM harness to tell you which wires to pick.
If i have I-ves DVD player in my TSX and I install the Universal Video converter; will my dvd player work with the UVC? If so will the UVC be the only equipment i will need to install? 1 more question do you know of a reputable installer in Houston, TX that can install the UVC?
Thanks
Thanks
Seemed like there was a lot of interest in this thread a month or so ago ... did anyone get this stuff installed? What were your experiences like ... I'm getting a 2005 TSX with Navi ... so I'll have XM already installed. Will I be able to still plug into the deck or am I SOL?

I can show you how to get the Audio from the I-VES DVD to work with the adapter. I did it on mine when I tapped mine in. you have to splice into the OEM output and convert it over. I have pics I can send you as well. Just hit me up on PM. the sound is much better through the BUS interface.
