Protection

Well i'm heading off to college next year and just recently got my Alpine INA-W900 installed. I was wondering other than an alarm what you guys do to hide your double din units. I want to keep it under the radar as much as I can with out being too obvious. Any suggestions would help!

Dark tint. You pretty much can't do anything to hide the unit unless you put something over it.

When I have my deck out for comps, it sits on the passenger's seat. For "security", I have my alarm, tint, and I always cover the deck with a sweatshirt. Normally, I cover the hole in the dash with another shirt as well so people can't trace the wires to under the sweatshirt.

One idea I thought of would be to take your factory hu and cut out the back of it and turn it into a cover plate for your aftermarket deck. Just an idea, but your best bet really is going to be to cover it with something.

Well about the HU cover thing. I seen in this Toyota forum that the guy took the faceplate of the stock HU, he pretty much just shaved the front off. He then took the knobs and glued them to the stock face plate (but he made sure they looked functional). After that he made small mounting brackets on the dash that he could hook the factory HU face to so he could cover his after-market double din. It was on a newer Toyota Tundra and the radio sits recessed in the dash, so it was simple for him to slide the cover over it. Might be a bit more complicated for us
