Program for designing boxes??
Is there a program for design boxes.
So that you can get the exact frequency and sound that you want from them with out having to build the box.
I though the program was called winISP but I must be mistaken.
I may just be going crazy any input on this would be much apperciated

A lot of speaker box threads..! Looks like summer has motivated everyone..
You just need to get a general size of the box you want and type then start adjusting with the calculators.. You just need to know the speaker requirement..

I start with the RE calculator that on1wheel mentioned, then I use a 3-d modeling software (Solidworks 2008) to model up the box I just made in RE's calculator. Then I take a good old fashioned piece of paper, pencil, and a calculator to triple check all of the volumes. Once I have the volumes good (including subtracting the displacement of the sub), I use this calculator: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/boxcalcs.asp#porsq to tune the port one hundred percent correctly to where I want it. I also subtract out volume for the 45's I put in every corner, and the port length that is created by the 45 degree angle piece in the port. This gives a correct port length, instead of a rough port length that is given by RE's calculator.
Good post..
Aero ports ftw in that case. If you're looking to do that, build the fiberglass enclosure to whatever specs you need, then cut a hole in the glass, and insert your port into the hole. Aero ports are different than slot ports for calculating, and I have no idea how to do it. The 12volt.com calculator I posted does have a round port calculator, but I dunno if that's aeros or just a round port.

i started the thread because I am doin a custom install for a jeep tj and he wants some pretty specific sounds out of it using a sub I have never used before
But the second question is because I am now in the process of selling all my stereo equipment 4 amps 3 subs and am upgrading to one JLW7 this may take a (while) I am also going with something more suddle in my trunk(matt you seen pics of the system) so I am molding a box out of fiberglass into the back section of my trunk (Im going for an OEM look kindof) any ways I wanted it ported.
thanks for the help with the box creater site

I wouldn't go with the W7, but that's just me... If you're looking for the sound, there's much better for the money. If you're looking for the look, look at the Ascendant Audio Havoc. It's a sub that's probably close in performance, and has almost the same style cone. It also works in smaller boxes which will help with the OEM look you're going for...
What sub is going in the TJ? There might be people on here that can help with the box design, if you want it...

he hasnt told me yet I meeting with hi later today
The reason I was going to go with the W7 is proven performance I want this to be the last sub I buy ( like that will ever happen lol)

One of the reasons I don't like the W7 is the screwy voic coil combinations. You have to find an amp that makes ~1000w at 3 ohms, or the same power at .75 ohms. Most amps that small aren't going to make power at that low of a resistance, or you have to go out and buy a much larger amp so that you get the power at 3 ohms.
Another thing is enclosure size. With a W7 you need a larger (2.5+ cubes) compared to the Havoc that only needs 1.75 or so. This would help out with your wanting to make the enclosure more factory looking.

LOL but I still havent decided on what im getting Im going to look around the net Im still not going to do this for a while maybe 2-3 weeks im still selling my components so when they sell im good to go thanks thought
Bad deal.... The RE SE is a pretty pointless sub if you're thinking about something like a W7.... It'll only take maybe 800w, which is barely over it's rated 600w. I'd stay far far away from it...
Here's a better question, how much power do you want to run? What size amp are you looking for once you get everything sold? That'll help out with your sub choices...

Call them and ask?
Oh, and a BTL is going to need a ton more power than they're rated for. I know a guy up the road that was running (I think) 3kw to one 18" BTL... Craziness, but now he's got 2 18" Cascade Design Omegas in the backseat of his Saturn... The build should be done for the local comps this weekend, and it'll definitely be interesting to see...

hifonics brutus do put out good power for the money. There XXV line of amps are there best.A 3000w XXV THOR,or a 4000w XXV CYCLOPS,is what you would want to run.
