Ok...I have read through ALL of the posts and threads and cannot find a definitive answer to my question.
It goes as follows:
I have an 04 TL Non-Navi.
I would like to add my aftermarket capacitor, amplifier and 2 12" subs. I bought an LOC today and would like some guidance. I would like to know where the stock amplifer for the sub is located. What color wire is the remote wire for the stock sub (so that I can wire it up and have the aftermarket amp come on ONLY when the radio is turned on).
Do I need to disconnect the stock amp/remove the stock subwoofer (I've read that this will act as a port for the bass). I have a decent amount of knowledge but would like some information to avoid any unneccessary removal or wiring confusion. I know I'm doing fused power wire from battery, ground to chassis, remote turn on from stock wiring and LOC from 2 speaker wires to stock subwoofer.
Anybodies expertise and information in this area will be GREATLY appreciated.
Thank you much,
Jeremy.

Sure, line output converter...can be purchased at best buy for about 27 bucks. It lets you tap into the wires coming from the stock subwoofer and connect the RCA's to it to go to the amp. Run fused power to battery, ground and remote wire (I ran from the orange wire going to the stock amp located in the right passenger footwell. It's the stock remote turn on). Then that's it...it should be all good to go. Pretty simple.
is this what you bought?

what wires did you tap into for signal?

Yes...any line output converter like that will work. Check out davidnavone.com for really good quality ones...ended up using a 4 channel one from that website to hookup for mids and highs (stock couldn't keep up with that much bass).
Then...splice the LOC into the stock sub wiring (removed factory sub since it just ends up sounding like muffled weak bass) and run your fused POS from the battery, ground, and remote from any accessory fuse (although I opted to tie into the remote turn on wire for the factory amp located in the passenger footwell).
GL!

ok i feel real stupid lol, ive wired up all my other cars but never had anything like the tl. there are 5 wires on that loc. which wires do i hook to the stock sub harness, and is the 5th wire a ground for the loc?

I believe so...
the other 4 wires are for pos/neg and left and right (2 channel)
For the sub, since it's only one channel you can just pick one set of them since the TL has a dedicated subwoofer channel anyway that is controllable from the headunit, it won't matter.
Just make sure to use the same...whether it's left or right, use pos and neg to whichever side you choose

No idea! You definitely don't HAVE to use that wire as the remote. Even with it, my amps are all on when the car is on regardless of the radio so you might as well just pick an accessory fuse to tie into to get the remote signal to come one.
Just to double check though...we are talking orange wire BEFORE the amp, right?! Did you unplug it to test it out?

I AM correct about the remote wire being ORANGE, right? Did I remember it correctly?
If for some reason you can't figure that wire out...use your tester on ALL the wires going INTO the amp until you get one that has power when the key is on ACC.

Did you find a write up on it? I got nothing when searching.. I saw the thread I have in the DIY for wires in the passenger kick panel but that's it..

Come to think of it, I'm not really sure where I found that! I guess I can take my kick panel off and take a look at what wire is ACTUALLY the remote wire.
Stay tuned...gotta hustle to get to the coldplay concert tonight, but hold out and I'll get back to you.

Alright! That'll work.
To be honest..I almost passed...I saw NIN last week and have DMB in 2 months. Glad I didn't though...I'm really looking forward to it.
How about this...maybe it doesn't have signal if it's not connected to the amp? Like...did you unplug the plug and then test it? I know the TL stock amp is complex about everything being plugged in car turned on. Learned the hard way when I was trying to get my aftermarket amp to have sound...it wouldnt' work till I turned the car completely ON. And...come to think of it...I don't know if I even checked the orange wire before using it for remote because I had read SOMEWHERE that that was the correct wire and everything turned on. Well...sounds like you got it resolved anyway so Kudos!
