problems with eclipse 8443

I meant 8443...but I guess its too late to change the title...anyway

any stereo experts think you could help me out?

I stripped out all the bose a while ago and replaced everything with aftermarket. I originally had a Kenwood deck. Everything worked fine, but I didn't like the Kenwood deck. I swapped it out for an Eclipse 8443. It was brand new, installed by the dealer.

Problem is whenever I turned it on, there was a huge bass thump from the subwoofer. I had the shop guy double check every ground and connection, but couldn't fix it. They determined that it was a faulty unit, and replaced it for a new one. The new one does the same thing.

It only happens when the deck turns on to the CD player, if it was on AM/FM when I turned it off, it turns on silently.

I unplugged the non fading rca's and turned it on, and that solved the problem.

So it is definitely a signal coming through the non fading outputs of the deck. It is not an amp problem because 1. it never happened before the eclipse deck and 2. it doesn't happen when I turn on the deck to radio

WHAT THE HELL IS THE PROBLEM???? Could it really be that the decks are just crappy? Has anyone had problems with Eclipse before? Anyone else have this deck?

thanks for any info...I'm going in next week to get rid of this deck and get something else if I can't figure it out.

and has anyone seen this? this looks great...

I have the 8443 just like you. I have had no problems at all. Eclipse are quality units. I don't think your headunit is causing the problem. Hopefully you can figure this out.

I know for a fact it is the headunit causing the problem.

Driving me nuts.

when the nf outputs are unplugged from the deck, no thump. when they are plugged in, huge thump.

other decks don't cause the problem, we swapped it out and tested some other deck and it was fine.

maybe this shop is selling me refurbs or something.

its usually set between 0 and 2

I'm going to try turning the nf up and the gain on the amp down.
