OK, finally, avincar speaker upgrade kits for the TSX are soon to be available again! You have probably read the reviews from jlukja, pilbox, goducksclspride, and others (if not,search for "avincar" : )
We are looking at shipping these at the end of the month (waiting for 6x9 drivers).
These new 6x9 drivers will eliminate the grille trimming that the first-gen kits required during install - the manufacturer has agreed to NOT glue the plastic ring on top, but will tape it so it's easily removable. We had to pay extra for this assembly change, but it makes the install much simpler.
So for those who don't remember, this kit includes:
Two 26mm silk-dome tweeters with neodymium magnets.
The TSX tweeters are in plastic cups that fit into the TSX tweeter hole.
The CL-S tweeters are already mounted into new mirror sails.
The tweeters have a much lower mechanical resonance than the OEM tweeters and raise the vocals up into the windshield from the lower doors.
Two 130mm midranges in mating spacers.
The TSX mids are in custom-made spacers that secure to the door with 3 bolts.
The CL-S are in modded OEM spacer baskets with a new fascia ring on top. They screw into the OEM screw holes.
Two long-throw 6x9 subwoofers.
These have much more travel than the OEM woofers, and also have a much lower mechanical resonance, again allowing them to play much lower notes.
All speakers have Honda/Acura speaker plugs OR T-tap connectors (tweeters only) for ease of connection.
All have butyl or Santoprene surrounds and poly cones for long life in a car. The 6x9s have MUCH better bass than the OEM speakers, using only the OEM amp. (NOTE: These are configured for operation off of the OEM amp. If you want to run them off of another amp, different xovers are needed.)
The mids and tweets are made in Europe and the woofers in the good old US of A.
The new kits had to go up in price as we warned about on the last group buy (Sorry! darn that Euro!)
TSX kit: $425 plus actual ground shipping (about $15 to the East Coast from Oregon).
CL-S kit: $450 plus actual shipping (about $15 to the East Coast from Oregon).
