Question PPI Amps

Anyone have any opinion on old skool PPI (Precision Power) amps?

I'm talking the chrome power class ones.

Some OS PPI amps were kick-ass... but how old we talking here? And which models?

I *think* those would be great.

I agree. If they are the ones I am thinking about, they were awesome. I think that was about the last really good old schools PPI amps.

i am not sure about the quality of the new ppi amps (now owned by dei, and manufactured overseas, as far as I know) compared to the old ppi amps made in Phoenix, AZ.

Output is better and SQ is the same but no more thermal issues.

I had 3 art series amps in my old Accord from 1996-2004 and never once did they thermal or have heat issues, in the arizona heat, those amps were rock solid. I wish I didn't sell them with my old car, my TSX could use some bump bump in the trunk.

Batman, I believe that the Art series was stioffly-regulated in the power supply, and I believe that the only amp this applies to any longer is the huge stereo one, right? All the rest are loosely regulated nowadays.

I have not personally heard any of the newer, (DEI owned), stuff. You think the SQ is on par with the Art series? I owned two different Art series amps and few years back and you could throw anything at them. I had the 4 channel that was rated at 25 x 4. I ran components up front and a pair of subs at 2 ohm off the rear and it never blinked. Not to mention the small footprint compared to the monster size amps of today. SQ was incredible and the ability to work in just about any load was very impressive. Just for educational purposes for me, how do you think the newer ones stack up?
