dual 4ohm to 2ohm?
dual 4ohm to 2ohm?
i'm thinkin about getting two diamond audio d3's that are dual 4ohm subs and i was wondering how can i turn it into a 2ohm load so the amp could put out more power?
dual 4 ohm speakers can be run either in 4 ohm stereo (not recommended unless both channels are mono), 2 ohm mono, or 8 ohm mono. the final impedence will depend on whether you wire the speaker in series or paralell. check to see what the lowest impedence your amp likes to see (remember, if your stereo amp sees a final 2 ohm mono load, this is the same as a 1 ohm stero load). jps
You can not hook two dual 4 ohm voice coils together in any way and achieve a final load of 2 ohms. Each sub is going to be either 2 or 8 ohm. When you wire them together, you are going to have 1 or 4. Running all coils in parallel will yield a 1 ohm load. Running a combination of series and parallel will yield the 4 ohm. If your amp is only 2 ohm stable, I would only use one or get dual 2 ohm voice coil subs. Or get a 1 ohm stable amp or maybe a two channel amp that puts out alot of power when bridged to 4 ohms mono.
