I just cut a small slit in the rubber boot in the driver's area, seems to work fine. I ran 1/0 gauge through there with techflex on it, no problem. I can't show the power side directly but these might help in your adventure:

On the opposite side of the tunnel I ran my RCA's and my phone-jack type wire that runs my processor's subwoofer volume knob, all in techflex

But I recall the power wire work was pretty easy. Just pop your head under the steering column area, you should see a spot. I just used a piece of straight hanger from inside the engine bay area, and confirmed the grommet was clear to cut into. No issues that I can remember.
