Recently upgraded my old Alpine amp with a new Pioneer PRS-D2000T (600w RMS). I am driving a 10" Alpine type R sub. Also running a 1 farad capacitor. The cap is a new addition as well... didn't have one before.

I now have a loud "Pop" on power up and power down... which I never had before. Any ideas on how to eliminate this annoying pop would be greatly appreciated.

 

try eliminating the cap first, or relocate the ground.

Heh it could be the cap... they're worthless. Do you have an aftermarket headunit?

 

Thansk for the suggestions guys... I have the stock HU. Didn't klnow that the caps were a problem... it will be easy to take it out of the circuit and then see if there is an improvement. I will let you know how I make out.

 

did you hook up the remote wire to the amp or ignition? that can cause a pop if the amp turn is powered separatly.

 

I sanded down my ground and removed my cap today - no pop anymore. and i think its a tad bit louder now
