Sorry guys, I suck when it comes to audio equipment, but I'm looking at picking up a set of Polk DB650's for my 01 TL.

I know they aren't top of the line, but they seem decent and in my opinion, should be a little better than the stock speakers. What do you guys think?

Any input would be appreciated. It is a 2" mount depth, is that going to fit? I know the TL has a 6.5 speaker, but Crutchfield is saying its not going to fit??

 

Anyone know what the specs for speakers have to be for the 2nd gen TL? Every speaker I've been looking at, between 5 1/4 - 6 1/2 according to Crutchfield will not fit, they are only showing like 4 pairs of speakers that will fit...whats the deal?

 

I'm running DB570's(5X7/6X8) in my Explorer. Been very happy with them.

 

Not sure about the depth question. For my 04 TSX I built some 1/2" mdf spacers to make some room and the door fascia fit back on without any difficulty so you might consider that.

MY only problem is that in the past month one of my rear 650's blew - not sure if it was moisture or what (I don't really crank the radio and they're getting 40 watts rms with 55 being what they are rated to). They lasted for about 3 years so I guess I shouldn't gripe too much. They sound good and aren't too expensive - I'd reccomend them.

 

I'm thoroughly confused still...I mean, it seems like common sense, but maybe i'm just a dumbass....

Stock 2nd Gen TL's stock come with 6 1/2" speakers, in the front and back doors. The depth on the front door is 3 1/4" and the depth in the rear is 3"

So why wouldn't a 6 1/2" speaker is 2" depth fit? Only thing I'm thinking is the position of the holes for the screws?
