Exclamation Planning a new system for my CL

okay guys, here is the deal, i have a 97 3.0 CL and im planning a system for it, now i work at best buy and we have an accomadation on alpine car audio. So im going to go all type R. im going to do the cda-9853 deck, type r 6.5" components in the door, and 6x9 2-way type r's in the rear, running on a MRV-f345 4 channel v12 amp and a type R 12" running on a MRD-m605 mono amp.
now i have a couple questions, should i get the 6x9's, i only listen to indie/rock so what would be the best option for me. also any opinions on alpine type-r products, remember though im getting it for super cheap, so you can't go wrong. also i have a 1/2 cap will that be enough or do i need a 1 cap? thanks guys

Damn right they are cheap!!

As for the speakers, correct me if I am wrong here, but I believe most of the audio in a car comes from the rear speakers (back of the car.) Does this make sense???

Especially with the Type R 6X9's, you will get a lot of nice clear sound and good bass out of these speakers.

Ive never listened to them, but they should sound better then the blose speakers. You could do better, but I guess it depends on if you want to save $$ or you have extra $$ and want sound quality.

If your getting a 12" sub then I would forget the 6X9's IMO. Pull the 6x9's out and let the sound of the sub come through. With this small setup I would invest in upgrading the battery to a optima yellow top before wasting it on a CAP.

Shit I thought best buy and futureshop (best buy owns futureshop in canada) didnt carry alpine gear cause if they did I would have gotten the stuff at cost.
But I do have a similar set up you are thinking about in my tsx http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2094023.

i already have the cap. so thats is gonna stay, but really just rely on the 6.5 components and sub to push everything even if i listen to only marginal deep bass?

The 6x9s def need to go. Rear fill is more of an option if anything. A true sq install doesnt need it, only a very good front stage at the right angle. I could see using rear fill if you are used to it, or if you are wanting a rear sound stage for movies and stuff. It is also nice if you have passengers in the back. Other than that I suggest replacing the 6x9s with a 6.5" component set. If you want midbass go with some midbass woofers that are 6.5 - 8" and stick them up front. You will need to cross them over of course as well.

Alpine audio in general, and Type R equiptment is pretty decent stuff. I think they overcharge a bit, but you are getting it at a phenominal price. So GO FOR IT!

I'm not shure if MrChaos is serious or just pulling your legg. The front speakers are the most important. It's how you produce a proper 'sound stage' and 'imaging'.

I hate it when people fade the music to the rear, it's like going to a concert and putting your back twards the band.

One of the other guys said it right, the back is for fill only.

The challange is that you can't usualy get a big enough speaker or enough enclosure volume to produce bass up front. Fortunatly, bass is not directional. If you are careful, you can produce the higs, mids, and mid-bass up-front. Fill in with bass and sub-bass only from the rear (no highs or mids, it screws it all up). And it will all sound like it's comming from a band on your dashboard and you are in the best seat of the house.

I just mentioned that because he seemed a bit cautious on replacing all of the speakers. Also, so many people, for some reason or another, fade the music to the back..

Replacing all the speakers will create a perfect balance of harmony

Sayanythingrock, You wont reget the full type-r setup man. Only thing i noticed with my setup is. Same as you but got 2 10" type x's. Is when the bass from the subs goes off it completly fucks with the 6x9's bass, and adds a nasty noise. I had to create 2 smalled boxes to seal the 6x9's from the subs. It works 10x better now.

Next your gonna have problems with the 6 1/2 in the front doors. its not going to fit, so you'll need to cut the rear of the speaker bracket out. when you do that you'll be able to see the Window frame, If your installing it or someone else is MAKE SURE YOU PUT SOME TYPE OF FOAM STRIP DOWN THE FRAME. You'll also need to cut some of the door panel stuff out around the speaker hole as the excursion of the 6 1/2 will hit it.
I've gone through everything now and sounds awesome.

If you need any help man just message me i got some pictures and shit of what i did.
