Pioneer Vs. Alpine (need opinions)
Pioneer Vs. Alpine (need opinions)
I'm having a hard time deciding what head unit to purchase. All I know is that it defiantly has to have MP3 playback and have AV controls. The two models that I got my eye are on the Pioneer
DEH-P940MP
Or the
Alpine CDA-7897
They both are around the same ballpark in price. Just wondering what you guys felt about the two and if they are worth the money. Or is there something better out there, thanks in advance

ive never been a fan of alpine decks, to me they look cheap and the few i have had experience with skipped alot over bumps in cars with tight suspension....pioneer decks have NEVER skipped on me and they always look very sleek. as far as quality of the sound output, both are probably about equal, but based on looks alone, Pioneer all the way.
I'm leaning towards the Pioneer unit too. I have been a die hard customer of Pioneer products. The only thing about that unit I'm not fond of is the sterring wheel remote. I like the bigger remotes which you can hold in your hand. Are the pioneer remotes universal ? Can I use any remote on any unit? I know the older ones are like that. If so I want to purchase this remote seperatley. Thanks for the info
man f pioneer i had the avx-p7300dvd and had nothing but trouble with it... and pioneer customer service is probably the worst i have ever experience... alpine... alpine... alpine... but there are other quality units out there like eclipse...

Who made your faceplate for your TL ?
Also when your talking about the 4-6 sec. is that in between each MP3 ? or just the first load. I have the CDA-7998 and if i have a CD loaded full of mp3s' the load when the CD is first put in takes between 5-20 seconds. After that there is no delay. Just wondering .

Alpine.
I have the 7995 and love it. I've owned Alpine for the past 10 years or so and I have never had a skip, unless I had a shitty CD playing. Never because of bumps or suspension.
I have a cheap Alpine in my truck, not sure of the model number, but it's old. I primarily use the truck off road and still have never had a skip., unless I was trying to play an bad CD.
Pioneer, just seems cheap looking to me, just my opinion though.

Got my deck!
Hey everyone, well I finally decided and went with the Pioneer DEH-P940MP and I luv it. This has been by far the best Pioneer unit I have owned, lots of features and it sounds awesome even with the stock Accord speakers. My only gripe would be the delay it takes for initial load of my mp3 cd, but once it’s loaded its not that bad. This unit was really easy to install, my first install and it went off without a hitch. I'm selling my steering wheel remote kit, I haven’t used it and really don’t care for it, so if anyone is interested I’m looking to sell. Most pioneer remotes are universal between each other. I’m using the cd-r600 now.
Thanks for the input and hit me up if interested in the remote, will post pics soon.

OMG, this is not even a question.
ALPINE
BTW, I'm gonna get the IVA-D900 when it comes out........alpine screen, dvd, mp3, all in one unit.
My Lude has had three Alpines, all of them I've sold WELL after use (CDA-7995, CDA-7839, CDA-7949), and I have another ALPINE in my 84 Toyo truck.........
