Pioneer DVD Owners Help Please

Hey I just go my AV system installed yesterday. The mounting isn't as clean as I would like, but I plan on having a custom faux wood panel made to match my kit. My main question is for people with the system, how do I modify my parking brake sensor to allow me to play DVDs when it is not engaged (i am not interested in the legality issues here)? I notice that it I slightly press the brake down I can view movies without engaging my parking brake, but it gets kinda bothersome driving around with my foot on it. Any ideas? Thanks.

Also is it possible to view the screen saver that plays when on the tuner mode, when playing audio CDs?

well since you have a pioneer system this should be simple. On the back of of your brain unit (the AVM) you should have a green wire with a black stripe -- this is the parking brake wire. If you ground this wire it will be like the parking brake in engaged. You could just gound it with a NO switch in place so you could just emulate a parking brake. Helpful when the PO decides to take a look in your car. =)

Thanks Adam. So just cut the wire out of the 9000R and ground it to the frame? And do you know anything about being able to view the tuner screen saverish display while playing an Audio CD, versus looking at that damm solid blue screen?

I have it under my drivers seat. Right now it is width wise mounted and can only go under the seat so far. (so it's now visable with the seat back, but is if I have to move it up (ie someone behind me). I think Aaron said something about being able to mount it lenght wise under the front seat and that would provide more room in the back. (Aaron any advice?) I guess that that optical cables that come with it aren't long enough to reach the trunk. I am enjoying it immensly but have yet to learn how to totally work it (especially with three remotes! I know that the really cool looking one (the Navi remote) should be able to do everything that the other two do, but I am not sure) Still learning any tips would be appreciated.

To disable the pesky parking brake option you can just ground the wire. There is also a wire on the back of your deck that you will need to ground as well. As far as the blue screen while playing /audio/video, there are is only one small option. You can change the size of the display area that states the name of the CD, and the title. That's about it. As far as mounting the brain, you can mount it horizontally under the seat. There is a little steel bracket that holds the wires for your power seats, and SRS. That bracket has to be cut, and the wires have to be secured to the bottom of the seat with zipties. Once that is removed, the brain will fit horizontally. Do you have any pics of the install? I'm curious to see how they did your trim plate. Good luck.

No pictures yet, Still trying just to get pics of the ride up. I had it installed down here and am less than pleased with the final presentation (both units aren't sunk in at all and tiny bits of the cage for the AVIC-9DVD are visible around the endges of the ABS plate. The endges are rounded either It will work for now but the mounting will be modified. What wire behind the unit has to be grounded as well? Also, what's the likely hood of being able to cut some faux wood to cover the abs (it would look a lot better then). Will probably have to come up to see you and your friends up there in Phx for a proper job!

Did you swap out the stock speakers also, or are you still using them with the stock wiring???

Still got stocks, saving some more money up and will change out the fronts to MB components next. The stock speakers do sound a lot better than before though, guess it's just the amp.

little update, I added a 12disc changer to the system (mounted in trunk and pioneer) Now I can play "multi-CD" with the cool animations, just don't work for a CD in one of the dash units (don't know why) but it doesn't matter now.

Aaron, Thank you. I had the bracket cut and was able to move the brain up about 3 more inches under the seat and now it's out of the rear passenger's way. By the way can that company you found burlwood the plastic trim piece for the p7300DVD? Also it looks like pioneer doesn't make a trim piece for the AVIC-9DVD anyone with this that can show me how they mounted thiers? (I hate seeing the cage around the edges)

Which wires need to be grounded from the deck? I found the brain wire very easily but not sure about the deck wires. Also do I ground a wire from the avic-9dvd AND the avx-p7300 (in addition to the one off the main unit)? Thanks guys.

They sure can, Logan. They can wrap anything plastic or metal in the car.

Thanks.

So you hooked up your new system to the existing stock speaker wires that run to the trunk/amp.

Then you must have had to remove the bose amp. Did you just splice the wires directly to the stock speaker wires (just cut out the stock amp), or did you replace it with an aftermarket amp?

I am thinking of replacing the stock unit, but keeping in the stock speakers. I was going to cut out the stock amp (splice the wires together), so the sound will run completely through the stock wires (dash to trunk then to all speakers). But are the stock wires a large enough guage to do this?

hooking up the system, is a piece of cake.

just gound the green wire to a metal piece, or connected them to
your black ground wire.

its alsome having the tv playing while your drive.
attracts alot of women, when your driving with a porno on.

Thanks vtecpowersumo. I am grounding tomarrow. I am going to have a shop cut some of the burlwood abs to replace the black abs face plate and wrap the trim pieces via 4pumpedcl's connects. I think that i'll finally be happy will the install. I love the way it sounds, but even with only the 45w pioneer amp, I can't turn it up all the way because the speakers loose clairty. Are the PSDs decent or should I just spen d the money on the QSDs now?
