piecing together a new stereo for my CL, opinions

i'm piecing together my new stereo. it's been a couple years since i've put one together for myself. i'm not doing any subwoofers, but i want to do 100+ watts per channel for the midrange, and replace the rear 6x9's with 6.5" components.

for the head unit, i'm going with Pioneer's DEH-6900UB. i've always been a pioneer fan, they're almost impossible to kill.

for 6.5's, i'm not really sure. the only speakers i've found under $200 a pair with over 100w RMS have been Polks and Alpines. i'm leaning towards Alpine as i've had several sets of Alpine speakers and subwoofers in the past.

Alpine SPR-17S (110wRMS@4ohm, $140)

Polk Momo MMC6500 (125wRMS@4ohm, $160)

for the amp, i'm looking at a pair of Hifonics TXI6006's. 125Wx2@4ohm RMS

so, if you have any suggestions or opinions, post up, i'm definitely not for sure on any of these.

You should do at least a 8" sub. A system just sounds just perfect with a sub. I was going to do a 8" in the ski hole pass through. Now I posted the sub for sale in Blackmarket.....

With a sub you just cover the whole spectrum. I have installed a couple of systems using the Hifonics amps.. I just say they are great amps for the money. Go with the Type R up front and rear. Why not use a Alpine unit also. Take a look at the new 9885.

alright, good deal, i think i've finalized it.

Pioneer DEH-P6900UB
(2x) Alpine SPR-17S 6.5" comps
(2x) Hifonics TXi 6006
Rockford Fosgate 1f cap
Rockford Fosgate dual amp wiring kit

look good? and if it's not enough bass, i'll definitely consider an 8 in that hole, that'd be pretty sweet.
