Hey guys, im a noob to audio. im lookin to replace my speakers/amp. i already have a clarion tv/dvd. I know what size speakers are needed, im just looking to find what to look for in speakers....coaxial...2, 3 way..? And as far as the amp goes, what to look for in that as well.

Come spring my setup will be:
JL XR 6.5in component speakers in the front
JL TR 6x9 3way in the rear deck
JL 300\4 amplifier to power those speakers
JL 1000\1 amplifier
two JL 10w6v2 subwoofers in sealed enclosure
and an Alpine 9835 head unit.

currently I have the the components, 6x9's, head unit, and borrowing a friends phoenix gold to run the speakers .. sounds sweet

6 1/2 in the front component 2 ways. Get ones with External Crossovers.
Coaxial 6 X 9's in the rear if you just want them in, and don't care too much
a nice good powered 4 channel Amp.

THATS RIGHT MB Quart ALL THE WAY!!!!

I've never had any experience with Mb Quart, but everybody says they're good...now how can a board full of CL owners be wrong?

Personally, I went with Focal after listening to a demo...their K2P line practically made me melt in my seat...they'll cost you a few vital organs, but SQ is very good.

I think coaxials are crap and a waste of money...go with 2 way components. Now, if you wanna go all out get some 3 way's in kickpods...heh heh.

Get components, definitely amp them with about 75 wpc. I currently have Kicker resolutions and they are awesome. MB Quarts are good, but they require a shit load of power. You can't go wrong with Boston Acoustics, Focals, MB Quarts, or Diamond Audio.

All JL here's what I'm doing:

XR650CSI = 2way components
XR650CXI = 6.5 Coaxial's
two 8W7's = 8 inch subs

Components and Coaxial will run me about $434+ install
Sub will run me about $626 + install and custom box

The 8inch sounds like damn 15, I listened to two in my friends Protege it sounded louder than my 15, and the good thing is its louder than a 15, and it doesnt laag like one so you get the hear the TIGHT bass....

And all this is going to be hooked up to my Pioneer Avic N1

i found the highs of the mb quartz a little to harsh for my taste. the mids were excellent though. you can't get clearer mids than mbs. the infinitys i found to metalic sounding. mids weren't that great either. i ended up getting the boston pros. my advice is to listen to several different brands. your ears will tell you what you want.
