Over current on my amp??
I have a sony xplod amp and its hooked up to a solo baris L7 12"....it's been working fine, then out of the blue I have been getting the over current indicator lighting up on the amp.....the troubleshooting guide says turn the power off and restart....but the amp will kick in for a second then the light will come back on....any suggestions on a quick fix? IE change the Low boost level controls or change the filter level?

but does your amp able to handle the 2 Ohm load??? Most amps are not able to handle the 2 ohm load, only really expecive amps. Are you bridging the amp? how do you have the speaker wired. In series or parellel?

2-ohm DVC eh?
i hope you're not running that in parallel... if you are, then thats your prime suspect. there aren't too many 1-ohm stable amps out there, and i doubt your sony could handle it.
wire it in series.. and it should work fine. it's not gonna thump as hard as it did before, but at least there's no strain on the amp.
and as bnavarro said, make sure ur running mono-bridged. i'm assuming u kno ur audio stuff, right?
another note: if your amp STILL overheats from this, then my best guess would be that the voice coil(s) on your sub have gone bad.

sorry if i'm wrong about this... but if you were to wire the 2-ohm dvc in series.. 2+2ohms = 4ohms... which meets the termination spec on most amps doesn't it?
in particular, the sony.

Same exact thing happened to me on my Xplod 760watt amp. I was running one POS 10" xplod sub and the overcurrent light started to come on about a year after I bought it. I finally got rid of the 10" and bought 2 12" poineers and havent had any problems with it so far. When I shut off my car the overcurrent light turned off and worked normal until a few minutes later. I think the sub was about to go.
