Other ways to connect the IPOD?
Other ways to connect the IPOD?
Don't know if this has been posted (did a searc already), but what other ways can you connect the ipod besides what's been mentioned here like the icelink. I'm just asking because I saw device from apple(?) that can connect your ipod to the car but you have to set the radio to a station to receive sound. It's about $100. Will that work for the TSX? Are there any other ways?
The radio station method (known as FM Modulated or FMM) will work with any car with a radio. The advantage is that no modification is needed to the car. The disavantage is that the sound is not as good as a hardwired solution.
The other way you can connect is via a snhond3 adapter. You can do a search on that.

Yea to reiterate what wsklar says, I think there are 3 major ways
1) fm modulated - sucks cuz if you drive through different areas, you might hit other radio stations so you will constantly have to rotate the frequency. It is useful if you have a rental car that doesn't have a tape player where you can usually use the tape player to 3.5 mm jacks
2) snhond3 - what this does is convert your aux line to a set of rca jacks. You have two options from here
2a) dension icelink - this device attaches to the snhond3 and has a docking station or cable which you can plug your ipod too. Cost more money though.. browse the forums for the price
2b) straight rca plugs - some people have wired straight rca plugs to their center console. Advantage of this is it is free, but you will have to use up your cigaretter charger up for the ipod and do custom wiring for this. I think I would go this route if I didn't have an ipod but if i did, i would fork over the extra money for 2a
