Anyone find out how to make an 04 beep when you lock it. trying to avoid any heart failures this winter from my confirmation locking sound
Yes, im aware there are a handful of other topics about this, but there sorta just thrown into other discussions...

Find the wire in the kick panel that triggers (-) off of the door lock switch, but NOT off of the remote. (See the sticky on alarm wiring).
Find another wire that triggers (+) when the doors are locked for any reason (again, see sticky for Dr door unlock wire, test both for this description, (+) on lock).
Get two standard automotive "Bosch"-style relays.

Connect Relay 1 as follows:
85 to lock (-) switch wire in driver's kick panel.
86 to lock (+) wire in driver's kick panel.
87A to (-) ground
30 to (-) terminal of the Piezo
Other piezo terminal goes to ground.
Every time the remote is used to lock the doors the piezo would beep. Every time the switch is used to lock the doors the piezo is prevented by beeping by the relay.
It is remotely possible that there would be a millisecond chirp from locking with the switch. If this is true we can insert another relay (#2) to lessen the time, and worse case, we can come up with another solution. It really depends on how manymilliseconds it takes this piezo to make a sound, and I am depending on the capacitive-charging of the piezo to take long enough to make it no problem at all.

Wouldn't that make it beep every time you lock the doors with the remote? That is, if you hit the door lock button, it'd beep. If you hit it twice, it would still honk the horn (and beep?)?
So you're not replacing the horn with the beep then? I may be misunderstanding.

woah, thats some good info. i cant even begin to think of attempting anything like that without causing a car fire
.
but hes right, i meant and assume that the others who are interested, meant to replace the horn confirmation honk with the digital beep that the 2005 makes. I cant imagine it being more then a simple new horn or alarm node or something. probably not worth doing if its more intricate then a plug-n-play process; for me at least.
thanks though

The 04 has a horn output that it pulses for the lock honk and also for an alarm trigger. The two functions are built into the single output at the software level. It is difficult to change one and not change the other, but it can be done.
If the 05 beeps instead of honking, then it has a seperate output for a piezo beeper, or it's beeping something else (is it the same beeper as "leaving lights on"? In that case it's already built in and is just different software.) I don't think Honda built in more parts cost just so there was a beep, so I suspect they are using existing hardware in a slightly different fashion. I've never played with an 05, so I am not certain how to duplicate its operation exactly.
An experienced alarm installer could execute what I describe safely and reliably. I don't know where you are, but there may very well be a local shop that can be trusted with such work.

hmnmmm i usta have a "cricket" schematic. basically an anolog circuit that would make a piezzo churp like a cricket either always or when something tiggers it...... could be useful some how but that would then reuqire quite a bit of electornic knowledge

but what is the difference? you should research.
anyone find out yet?

Apparently not. Maybe you should ask the dealer to make it happen if you dont want to do it yourself.
