hey guy's i went to a local sound off today and got a SPL reading on my dual 10 power mouse.
i was only running a DEI 600 D rated at 400 watts @ 2 ohms
( each sub getting 200 watts out of a possible 1000 rms )
i hit 140.2 db measured at the windshield of my wifes 99 toyota 4 runner.
that means with the full rated power i should be at 146-148 db. next show im taking my dual 12 box and an 800 watt amp to see if i can break 150.

also at the show was an Escalade that had 4 15" MTX subs in a ported box running 1500 watts that only hit 147.
another ford explorer with 4 kicker L7 subs and i don't know how many watts using kicker amps took first place with a score of 150.2

i guess i did pretty well considering i was running less than 1/4 the watts and only 2 10's verses 4 12-15 " subs and 4 times the power

 

Kevin, ur making me jealous!! ...if you guys want a kick ass sub system, get a powermouse box from Kevin!...He knows what he's doin with car audio and is the absolute nicest guy!!

If you're striving for 150db SPL... Then the stock POLK DX-6 mod had to really seem like a "hobby" mod...

Now that you've had a week or so to listen to them, how do they still sound to you? You're probably at the point where you're wondering how much better it could sound with the rears and an aftermarket amp If so, That's a dangerous thing... the upgrade path never ends

 

Southbound, I am satisfied with the upgrade, I mean I only did it cuz it was an inexpensive way to improve the sound quality of my OEM system and it has...if I start adding more and more than it would negate why I did it in the first place.

It sounds like you have the proper perspective with regard to the POLK DX-6 mod. It's the same way I feel at this point. I know there's a LONG way we could go to further improve the system, but a man's gotta know his limitations... LOL

yea i did, but that was the CL up at sunshine. Only thing thats pissing me off, is that they got our pioneer unit, had it since jan.. something bout the old owner filing for bankruptcy and he owes pioneer a grip of money, so pioneer is takin their sweet lil time with my unit.. and now they dont sell pioneer.. whheww that was alot.. damn people need get my sh*t back, man i need my sounds
