New system for TSX, few major questions

Alright.

So I have all of the equipment that I want to put in my 2004 TSX, non-navi. Here is what I want put in:

-Alpine MRD-F752 5 channel amp (birthsheet - 110x4 and 389x1 RMS)
-the front four channels are going to bi-amp my front components
-MB Quart QSD213's (5.25" components, receiving 220 wats RMS a side)
-Second Skin Damplifier Pro (40 sq ft) for the front doors, and some of the trunk
-JL 10W7 Prowedge
-4 Gauge Stinger Amplifier wiring kit

So, do I need an LOC (Navone), or something like this from JL (looks awesome!) JL Audio CleanSweep

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I am going to disconnect the 6x9's in the rear and take them out so that bass can travel through the two openings on the back deck. Plus, would I still be able to run my rear crappy TSX stock speakers off the factory amp? Plus, do I need to replace the factory speaker wire???

Lastly, where should I mount the amp? I want it hidden or concealed, and I don't want to mount it to the back of the rear seats. The only problem is that is weights 20 lbs and is about 2 feet in length.

I am looking for th install to cost no more that $450 (crossing m fingers).

Thanks

Hi, T.

No Clean Sweep, no LOC - have you read the TSX sticky thread at the top of the A/V section? It addresses this pretty specifically. One caveat: In the past couple of weeks TWO forum members have printed out the info for wiring to the OEM HU and explained exactly how they wnated it to be done, and the installers used LOC's anyway and the sound quality was awful until they were removed. Find a shop that will do it your way and actually READ the info you provide.

How about this too: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/tsx-oem-hu-myth-equalization-298302/

Here's a scan: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/tsx-audio-wiring-map-297472/

THis recent post goes over the HU output wiring: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-video-electronics-navigation-22/20-pin-connector-question-294372/

You don't NEED to replace the OEM speaker wire... but it is pretty thin, and it only runs to the center console in the first place, so you'll be extending it.

You CAN run the R door speakers off of the OEM amp... we did it in joerockt's car, and I personally didn't find it worth the work. I would just jettison the OEM amp, and rear fill with it.

If I lived in Philly I'd do the drive out to StreetEffectz' shop in N.J.

If you want to drive up to NJ, we can do this install for $450 with concealing the amp and all. We'll make a custom mount for it behind the box. If you'd like to schedule, please email info@streeteffectz.com or call 732.388.7000

No LOC needed, we'll take the preout signal from the factory amp....oo, nevermind, I see your question has been answered already

Just as a follow up, what should be tapped with RCA adaptors. Should it be before or after the stock amp? And what leads?

Absolutely. If they don't even bother taking the info you brought to them, run away. Fast.

I just contacted streeteffectz. I saw a picture of the work they did on a TL with the components in the front door with the sound deadening and crossover in there. It was amazing work, so clean and well done.

I hope I hear back from them soon, and can let you guys know how it turns out, and how satisfied I am by going with them.

If they want, they can take pics of my car while its being worked on, doesn't matter to me. I am getting excited.

So, I will need new speaker wire to be run because I am bi-amping my front, which means speaker wire from all four channels of my amp are heading to my crossover, and then they run a single speaker wire to my tweet, and one to my mid. Guess it would be easier to put the crossovers close to the amp, that way you use a lot less speaker wire.

Thanks for your help. I will make sure to print all the info you guys gave me.

Hey, Tommy, FYI... I know your passive xovers allow bi-amping, but doesn't your xover in the Alpine amp let you bi-amp WITHOUT the passive xovers? I thought the xover in the amp had an X10 switch...

Theoretically, if you do that in the amp, set up right, you should have slightly better sound than with the passives - fewer components in the circuit path.

Good call. I will have to check on that. I just want to make sure I attenuate the tweeters correctly, so they are set at around -6dBs.

If that is the case, I will do that. However, the QSD crossovers are supposed to be perfectly matched for the set. I will do some reading up with my Alpine manual tonight.

Ummm, somewhat. It's not cheap stuff!! Any retail store like Tweeter will mark up like 50%. Never trust them.

I compiled up my equipment over a few years, and finally I have all that I want. I still have an Eclipse CD8454, which is one of the best head head units out there, just don't want to mess up the dash of the TSX.

I am trying to sell it, but everyone on this forum who has contacted me falls through at the last minute. If anyone is interested, its in perfect condition and was used for three weeks, thats it.

Actually, no, it's not really... it's just a question of priorities.

Exactly. All about priorities. When I should be putting all this money to a down payment for a house, I only save a little, and have fun with the rest. Plus, not having to spend money on a gf helps a lot! They are way too expensive right now.

Well,

My appointment with Streeteffectz is this Saturday. I will be driving up there, and hopefully it won't take too long, but I would rather have them do a good job, and I know they will. I will let you guys know how it sounds once I pick it back up Saturday afternoon.

Thanks for everyone's help in finding the right installer.
