New sound system!!!

Hi, i just bought an 06 tsx w/navi and would like to upgrade the sound system. However i am very new to customizing and sound systems, so i am open to suggestions on complete systems for an 06 tsx.
Im not usually blasting music above 20, and im just looking for clearer and smoother sound.

Thanks!

Ok i have searched other threads and have decided to run alpine sps in front and rear. But i am kind of confused on exactly what to buy. I would probably have these professionally put in unless its a simple swap. From what i understand, with the 2006 version, I should buy 2 pairs of alpine SPS 17c2's, and 2 of the SPS 69C3's. Also what else is needed for the hookup and also the rear deck( not exactly sure what that is)?

Sorry im really new with this

Thumbs up

ok it was the pics from website that confused me because the two speakers look different. So i would need to buy 2 pairs of the sps 17c2's and one pair of the 6x9's for the rear deck. On a website i found that only totals $170. It looks like a good deal and its the cheapest ive found.

The site is: http://www.techronics.com/

Thanks for the help

ok Ive searched around more! However I dont completely understand what to go ahead and buy. Im looking for replacement speakers for the four doors (possibly alpines ), a new amp, and a sub. Ive been looking at the systems and have kind of decided on the alpines. So, can someone please point out exactly what items to buy for a nice clean system?

Thanks!

Search! The alpine type-s upgrade for the TSX has been discussed over and over again. If you'd like some 1-on-1, I suggest going to your local audio store and talking to the install guys there. They will be more than happy to build you a parts list.

parts list

today i decided to get some local help and went to bestbuy. I have come up with this list of parts:

(1) SPS-17C2 6-1/2" 2-Way Speakers (PAIR)
(1) SPS-171A 6-1/2"/6-3/4" Component Speaker System (PAIR)
(1) SWR-1242D 12" 1500 Watts Subwoofer
(1) MRP-F450 4-Channel Amplifier
(1) MRP-M850 1-Channel Amplifier

Now i just have a few questions that i think would be better to ask you guys!

With the stock HU i was told that i would be unable to run this system because of the pre amps/ other details. So should i buy a new HU to make up for this? OR should i go for a system like 'saltyone' did with the modified harness and Audio Control four.1? Keeping in mind i will have this professionally installed and i have a 06 tsx w/NAVI. I am open to any suggestions!

Thanks again

line-out converter might work in this case, converting your speaker outs into RCAs, the Alpine amps should have line-level inputs where you can plug the speajer output wires into the amp itswelf for a signal.........

but sometrhing I gotta say

the sub is a dual 4-ohm woofer, so it will operate at either 2 or 8 ohm setups, either way, most likely 2 ohms........ well at that point 800W is way past overkill, youd be fine with the 600W M650, and if you want I might soon be selling my MRD-M605, same specs as the MRP-M650, but with V12 quality,PM if interested.......... honestly though RMS handling is 500W on the Type-R, while overdriving is better than underdriving, 800W is just way too much, nbe safe and overdrive by 100W not 300, that and a 600W amp is easier on your electrical system than a 800W amp..........

Line out converts won’t work for the main channels because the factory amp has internal crossovers. It will sound like crap through a tin-horn. The alpine amps won’t work with the TSX factory HU because they do not have differential inputs.

You need to go with JL or Rockford power or punch series amps with balanced differential inputs and some fancy harness by a guy named mercman.

Insert plug https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/tsx-factory-amp-bypass-no-splice-adapter-harness-365854/

One of the Kicker multi channel amps has diff inputs but I don’t recall the model.

Don’t make the same mistake as others and try to do it with an amp with non-differential inputs or it will squeal like a pig. Unless you want to drop $100 on my balanced interface converter. Put the money you would spend on the interface towards the JL amp and your good to go. Whatever you decide you will need the harness unless you want someone hacking up your factory wiring. Do a search.

Stick with your factory HU and use the bypass harness and the amps I recommend and you will be fine.

Thanks a lot for the advice. Im finally understanding this now. lol. Im gunna search around and look up the JL amp like u suggested. And i may be interested in your harness.

Also where could i find an installer who would install this? Would they be willing to install using your harness or will i be stuck doing some of the hookup?

Saltyone’s installer used my harness and loved it. You shouldn’t have any problems making the installers’ job easier.

I would guess this budget has been shot to hell. Don't worry, they usually are. Mercman is correct...buy his harness. SQ is excellent using his harness and the factory HU,..albeit, with just a little bit of processing. With the professional install, and the decent equipment you listed above, you're probably already at least a thousand dollars over budget...bite the bullet and have them install lots of sound deadening. You want regret it. Plus, it's nice not having hardly any road noise.

Good luck, and post some pics.
