New Pics of System

I just finished posting a few pics of my current install in the TL. Again, alot not finished, (is it ever, hehe), but, it should give you an idea of what I have. Let me know what you think and any suggestions for improvements.

Looking good. Honestly, the only issue I would have is that the HU is looking pretty lonely in that mount. The mount itself looks beautiful. You're lucky as hell to be able to do a job that good on your own. I'm still having issues with the kit I had made for me. I'm finding that I'm going to have to do some minor mods to get the coin tray to fit in properly on top of the mount kit.

I would have rather sent you the $200 I paid and got something that looks as good as yours.

Did you make your speaker mounts out of aluminum??? Goshdamn do they look good!

I don't know if damping the entire door is really necessary. It's a hell of a lot of work and you're not building a competition system. Let us know if you hear a difference that made it worth the time. I've only damped around the speaker as you did. I didn't want to deal with the expense and time of fully damping the doors. If you can tell a difference and it seems like it was worth all of your time and coin, I may reconsider prior to mounting the 6.5 mids in the front. Hell, if I'm going to take the time to cut the doors and build a mount for the mids, what's another hour or so dampening it?

Keep us posted on your further install info.

Thanks bozz.....I wish the head unit install was something that I could duplicate easy but, it was more take a small cut and try it. It is really custom fit for my head unit. At some point, I may try to make some new brackets that would bring the head unit out a half inch to an inch. Then, make a new trim ring to fit around the radio. Like I did with my MDX. Now, the head unit is a little farther back in the dash than the factory radio is.

Yes, the trim rings on the speakers are made out of aluminum. I like using the aluminum because I can mount the speaker to the ring and mount the ring to the door. The rings mount to the door using the factory screw holes. Putting the factory speakers back in would be a snap.

I too am not sure about damping the entire doors. I know now that the trunk and rear deck might need some attention but, the doors for now are going to wait.
