new member - few q's about avic-d1

Hello all. I am a new member to this forum. I was told to come here by a good friend. He tells me all my questions can be answered on these forums, so I hope you guys can help me too.

I recently purchased my ABP TL and I just got my Avic-D1 last night. I had a few questions.

1. Where can I connect the Pink Speed Sensor to the car? Is the wire in the car the same color?

2. I also wanted to know if I should ground the E-Brake wire even though it does not bypass the video. I have a external dvd player that I will connect to the unit, but I'm not sure if I should ground the E-Brake.

3. Im not sure if this is true or not, but I heard that there is a empty slot in the Pioneer wire harness and I should insert a wire there and ground it. This will bypass all the video issues. Anybody know anything about this?

Thank you.

-Jay

Welcome to the forum man

1. It's not necessarily the same color. It's different for every car. Try to find a place online with your wiring info.

2. Yes, you'll need to ground the ebrake.

3. Yep, this is what I heard works. I've seen StreetEffectz post it.

Just do a search on "n2 bypass" in the a/v forum.

Wow, great info. Thanks.

Now if anybody has any ideas on where to connect that speed sensor, I would be set.

In my dads benz, he had a avic-n1 and they didnt connect the speed sensor wire at all. So could I not connect that wire at all?? Or will that hurt the location on the navi?

No problem man.

It won't be as accurate without it. It might be a few meters off. It doesn't really make all that big of a difference, but some people want it hooked up so it's dead on.

Try to do some more research on the internet. Or Start a new thread saying what year your model is, and ask where to find VSS wire. I'm still not sure what year car you have.

IF all else fails. Go here:
http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/

Lots of installers post there.
