I sure would like to upgrade the stock system in my 1998 3.2TL. Please reply with any suggestions, do's or don'ts, anything would be helpful. Would also like to add a sub behind the rear seat. Modest upgrade wanted, I'm not made of money!!!

It really depends on how much money you plan on spending. How much can you do yourself? how good are you at finding bargains?
I would get a good headunit and amp and maybe a 12" sub in a pre-made box. I would consider that "modest".

 

SONY's expload speackers are pretty good for the money .. they sound great in my car .. i love them

 

In my friends 97 TL i threw in a 15" Solobaric in a custom built box determined on the inteior volume of the trunk a rockford 500A2 a pioneer 920R head unit all pioneer compression horn speakers on the inside and an 800watt PPI 4 channel amp pushing highs no Xover becuz the headunit breaks down everything. the price came out to about 2 grand but with out the interior speakers being modified it came ou to almost 1000
