Aftermarket is almost always better I say almost because some people like Jensen. The first thing I do when I buy a car is put a new stereo in it. The factory blose systems are not up to par as far as I am concerned I put a pioneer f700bt in mine and I love it. Do your research before you install either look for the metra dd kit or make one like I did with the diy.

Yeah the most important thing you can do is research.

All depends on how much $$ you want to spend, features you want, and functionality. Most popular around here seem to be the Pioneer AVIC (700-900BT that chaos recommended), and the Kenwoods. I love my Kenwood DNX 5120.

After deciding on that just need to figure out if you want to do it yourself or pay someone. I don't know about the TL's but for my CL the install was time consuming but pretty strait forward. I did a write up, not sure how much the interior differs to the TL.

It's always an advantage in changing out the factory HU, other than losing the 6 disc changer. Personally, i wouldn't go with JVC, but that's just me.

Indeed. Better sound quality, more power to the speakers, and with ipod's who needs a disc changer?

Can be retained but lose steering wheel control, Navi voice prompts, 6 disc in dash and subwoofer..

All depends on personal preference and reasoning of why you want to add a aftermarket headunit.

True that I got movies and music for days and you can listen or watch for days with an iPod, screw the disc changer.
