Whats up, some of you may remebr me, i got a complete system installed less than a month ago(infinity amps, speakers, and solo baric 12' l5).

Today i returned the L5. I beleive its way overpriced, but on top of that, its very poorly designed in terms of durability. I decided ot get my cash back b4 its too late, since the sub blew 2 times in 3 weeks. Its not like i mabusing the sub either. I jsut got sick of it and did not want ot take any more chances. I guess nothnig beats the round cones, square cones are extremly un-durable.

So today im looking at crutchfield and decided to go with alpine. Im not sure if i should go with 2- 12' type R's or 1 12' Type-X. The type x with a box will be 40$ mroe than 2 type-r's with a box.

The amo i got is an Infinity Reference 611a Mono subwoofer amp (456 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms (657 watts RMS x 1 at 2 ohms)). So based on my amp, do you think its better to go with 2- type R's or 1 type X for maximum performance? Im leaning towards the type-x

 

i dond understand ???? you could buy 1 or even 2 jl's 12w6v2 for the price of a solo baric? and is an alpine better then a jl??? at least 1 12w7v2? correct me if im wrong, ive never had any problems with my jl's at all.

 

I've had one 12" Type R powered off a Alpine MRD-M605 for over a month now and I love it. If I were u I would try that 1st b/c it doesn't seem like your working w/ enough power for 2 Type R's or 1 Type X... both require atleast 1,000 watts for maximum performance.

 

my amp can give out a little over 700wattsrms at 2 ohms, and 500 at 4 ohms. i really want a hard hitting system. the reason why i am thinkign abotu the type-x instead of 1 type-r is becuz i dont want ot deal with my sub blowing. with the type-x, i can give it 700rms of power and not have ot worry about it blowing.

 

At 2 ohms my Type R is getting 671 watts from my Alpine amp and it could easily take more. You can never over power a sub as long as you adjust the gains properly... but you can under power one.

 

From what i know, the Type-X's require A LOT of power. I would stick with the Type-R's or go JL or another brand.

My friend has a 2 12" Type-R's in a sealed box, running off a JBL amp, and it thumps nicely. Sounds like it can even be turned up some more if u wanted to.

 

How many watts is the JBL amp... is it the 1200 watt one?

 

I'm not sure actually, ill find out and let u know.
