Hey guys, I'm new to the forum and might as well get the best unbiased (or rather less than salesmen) tips and opinions on my new sound system for my Acura CL 2001 type S.

I'm not an expert but I love to research before I buy and read on what I know. So I just got a JL audio 12" subwoofer 12W1V2 with a box and an amp (forgot what box and amp but they're custom made and powerful enough to power the subwoofer)

My next set are components or speakers. So I read that components are speakers with tweeters. I'm not fully understanding the sizes of my speakers when I went to sonicelectronix (I went to the FAQ but some links were broken). Here is what they gave me:

• Front: 6-3/4"
• Rear: 6" x 9"
• Front door: 6-3/4"
• Rear deck: 6" x 9"

What is the difference or where is front and front door (same with rear)? I only see one speaker grill and the small tweeter on my door.



So I want to get Alpine Type R components (looking for the best deal under $150). I read that the Alpine Type R SPR-17S are great found here:


Can someone give me some helps or tips? If anyone has some used alpine type-r near LB, California, I would love to check it out and stuff.


Also I just paid installation for my sub and amp and it works great on radio but when I use my phone to play music, it seems like the sub is not working. Is this because I need a new stereo unit? P.S what is the ddifference between a head unit and stereo unit?

 

Not sure if there's an EDIT button but I also wanted to know what's the best alpine head unit or whatever for my car? I would just like to have an auxiliary jack so I can use my phone to play music. And I went to this shop and they said that I needed an equalizer too...?

 

The CL has 2 speakers on the rear deck and 2 speakers in the door and 2 tweeters on the other side of the side mirrors.

 

i just installed a avic d3 headunit and 600watt amp and 12'' tube i 99 tl. but i'm getting engine noise out of my sub. try'd changing grounds and new rca's still can hear the engine in my sub. any help guy's???

 

did u run your rcas and power wire on the same side seen that do it before. And also dont jack someone elses thread make ur own

 

 

Hey it can cause interference. Believe it if you want I never thought so but I helped someone rewire their car due to noise and only thing I did was reroute the power wire and it fixed the problem. Just sayin
