need help with capacitor

Can anyone lay out some detailed instructions on hooking up a cap? i just got a 1 farad for 20 bucks, and the instructions are really weak. anybody know the proper steps for routing the ground wire and charging the thing? any help would be sooo appreciated, and i know some of you guys got some dope-ass set-ups. thanks.

It's pretty easy to set up. To charge it you need to get a small charging resister(Radio shack has them for very cheap). Put the resister inline between the power wire from the battery and the positive end of the capacitor. Then connect the ground and wait a few minutes for it to charge up. Then simply remove the resister and connect both the power wire from the battery and the power wire going to the amp on the positive end of the Cap. You should be all set then.

Hope this helps

use a 5 watt resistor, or a small light bulb and just wait till the bulb goes out... all you're doing is avoiding a big spark.

Make sure the cap is not outdated... they actually have an expiration date, if its old you wont be doing anything for your system. Make sure the cap has a good ground too, it can be the same point where your amp is grounded, just dont use the same cable... and always remember to keep the ground lead short. (as well as the cable from the cap to the amp.
