Angry Need Help 01 TL aftermarket head unit

I recently installed a Kenwood 828 Head unit, I got the kit from schoske that supposedly turns up the gains in order to hook up the head unit to the stock bose speakers, I turned the gains up all the way but they still don't sound nearly as loud as stock. I'm guessing that something isn't hooked up right, has anyone here tried this themselves? I also was wondering if anyone hooked an aftermarket HU up to the stock sub, I'm trying to do this as well, do you just splice into the wiring harness for the remote? It seems like you would need RCA cables back to the stock amp, and one more thing, is the stock amp to the right of the sub if your looking at the bottom of the deck?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Well when you put an aftermarked deck in with the stock system, you lose the use of the stock sub, unless you physically find a way to send some signal too it. But as far as i know, there isn't a "kit" to do that.

you have to buy an aftermarker amp to wire in to the stock sub, may not be worth it might as well get a good aftermarket subs JL Audio ALL THE WAY!

the sub is not my main concern, I wouldnt mind replacing it, I just heard someone post that their aftermarker head unit makes their bose speakers sound great and mine definately sound far from it!

are you running all the speakers from the deck itself or are you running a 4 channel amp. To be honest, if you are running your speakers right off the amplifier built into the kenwood deck, it should sound better than stock. But to be honest I am a kenwood dealer, and their built in amp on their decks are weak and crappy, the pioneer ones are actually awsome. A Pioneer rep ran 16 subs off a deck once, before it kahked out, but at least he did do it and it did work for a lil while. Pioneer Built in Amplifer on the decks are good, but they tend to blow as well, but as for SQ the Pioneer Units are better. Kenwood units offer a better price point for the perks you get ie. Color Dot Matrix Display, Motorization, Triple 4V preout, and etc. But Pioneer units sound way better.

The speakers themselves are running from the head unit, through this adapter,http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOFAI3?vq_id=none, and then they go back into the factory wiring harness, and thats just the front and rear door speakers, the sub is not hooked up to anything because I'm not sure which wires go where for that part, but The adapter on the speaker wires is supposed to turn up the gains enough so that the speakers are loud, but even with the gains all the way up they sound like their starved for power, (i can barely hear them with the windows down), so I'm wondering if something is hooked up wrong because it seems like they would have more power than the stock HU.

ha! thats your biggest mistake, you do not need to re-run them low level! Run them high level direct!

Get a regular honda harness and run it direct to the factory harness.

you are convertering high level to low level TO YOUR SPEAKERS. You only do that if you were running to a factory amp. There is no factory amp on the speakers, there is only a factory amp for the sub.

undo that converter and run it direct and you'll see how much better it sounds.

Ahhhh haaaa, now that works much better, thanks NISMO! Now I can hear everything great, that is except for the sub, I've heard it can be done and got an explanation from a guy who's ACTUALLY WORKED ON IT unlike some of the people who just hear it can't be done and post, if theres anyone who HAS done this before I would appreciate any information you can give me as to hooking up the factory sub/amp. Thanks All

Also, if your headunit has a subwoofer preamp output, you CAN wire in the factory sub - there are two wires at the factory sub amp behind the rear seat that are the signal inputs for the sub - you can run an RCA from your heaunit, cut the other end off, and connect it directly to the factory sub amp - and now you'll have volume control and whatever else your headunit does, independently for the factory sub.
