Navi System screwed up by Valet Parking
Navi System screwed up by Valet Parking
My wife went to a wedding reception and used the navigation system to find it on the way there. On the way back, she told me it just said Enter Code with 10 numbers on the screen.
Has anyone ever seen this screen? How do you get in there?
Anyway, she then proceeded to try codes and after the 5th time or so it is now completely locked out. I tried taking the disc out and putting it back in but it is still locked out. I can't even get into the secret screens. I'm sending HER to take it to the dealer tomorrow (I have the extended warranty, so it should be no problem)
.
Any ideas?

not sure how to get there....but i know it happens when you disconnect the battery...although, it happened when i got my car tinted too...
but anyway....if i remember correctly, it'll lock itself out for about an hour? after which you can try to enter the code again.....it should be in the maintenance book. at least that's where mine is. you'll also need the code for the radio system. should be on the same page.

It happens when the system is disconnected from the battery. Sure was a bit naive by your wife to try random codes*. The right one came with the car -- in the manual.
It is very odd that the system is asking for the code, though. Makes one wonder if someone tried something stupid, like pressing multiple buttons at once.
* I must say I'm not much smarter. The family 1996 4Runner died (battery) and I started it by cable. Next thing I know the stereo wants the 3-digit code... which is custom (not in the manual). After 10 tries guessing what code I picked 8 years ago, the number of tries ran out and the stereo now says HELP the whole time.
Dealer wants $80 to "find the key."
