Looking sweet! Nice job.

Someday I'll change out my door speakers and get a new HU... rims are top prio at the moment... I have found the best rims on the planet... can't wait to get them! Not telling until I get them, probably Jan or Feb.

Very nice install, thanks for sharing! I'm curious, did you get the signal for the subwoofer amp from the oem preamp subwoofer line, or did you get the signal from your line converter ? (I suppose if I studied your picture I could figure this out myself ! - feeling lazy)

Mr TL,
I assume you are using the stock\factory HU?? Did you have a problem with excessive noise in the system?? I have a 01' CL Type S that I have forever been working on the system (the noise is almost unbearable at times) and was wondering if you could help me out in trying to isolate the noise further. Here is the current set-up:

Stock HU -> Line out speaker converter -> Eclipse 2101 6 Band Eq -> 3 pair RCA's (just getting Monster 401 installed in place of some no name that was in there previously) -> Zapco AG360 - driving factory 6 x 9's in rear deck & MB Quart DSD216 up front ; Zapco AG350 driving 1 12' Image Dynamics Sub bridged

If you need more info please let me know and I will provide it to the best of my ability.

JSuppi, im almost positive we talked on HA net. i am using the factory hu. yes, there is no way to totally illiminate the 'hiss'. i only get it when the volume is on the first level (not loud enough to hear anything). and it only comes out of the tweeters. it also depends on the song. is your problem worse than this?

this is what i would do in your case:
take out the equalizer
use speaker wire (not rcas) to take the signal from the factory wires all the way to the trunk, and put the line converter there. then , from the line converter to the amp.
also, dissconnect the factory speakers. use only the aftermarket ones.

thats the long route.

better yet, just do this..
stop using the factory speakers, and make sure those rcas are not beside any other wires
make sure you have a good clean ground point for both amps

can you please describe the problem you have? if its just a slight hiss, is normal

I've asked this question so many times, and got so many different answers from different people that I am completely lost (Trying to keep up with work at the same time doesn't necessarily help either , guess this is what we get when we are so obsessed with our cars and our music).

I was afraid the little hiss was to be expected The weird thing is I am actually getting two noises (both sound like pink noise), one is a constant tone (hiss), while the other increases pitch as the RPM's increase. I guess the only way to get rid of the hiss completely is to go with an aftermaket HU I was afraid of that.

I hate Line COnverters, but I guess we don't have much choice if we keep the Factory HU. I'd advise removing the EQ and seeing how much noise is still there. EQ's tend to pick up alot of noise for some reason. The RPM whine is a noisy power source to one or all your components, finding clean grounds may help. Other than that, Mr. TL's advice sounds perfect. Good luck. I'm in the process of considering the same upgrades...

Got most of the noise (if not all of it) worked out. The car sounds awesome, now all I have to figure out is how to adjust the damned EQ. Anyone got any pointers on adjusting Parametric EQ's, or specifcally the Eclipse 2101.

More buttons than I know what to do with, but I want it sounding it's best. I have an SPL meter and the Autosound 2K test disc, but unfortunately I think the guys who did the test Disc where more for the folks with the graphical EQ's and not the Parametric.

Hey all again thanks for your help, especially you Mr. TL. I was about to chuck the whole thing and go back to stock !!

pretty good. glad to hear to got it working.
not sure about the eq, you'll have to literally spend a matter of weeks before you get the perfect combo, its your preference mostly

good work
