Hey man, I have a mtx 2300 and it slams my subs. I paid almost $600.00 for it brand new, so that seems to be a good deal. The amp is 150x2@4ohms, 300x2@2ohms,600x1@4ohms. Do not run the amp in 2 ohm MONO.

 

why not? itll kill my battery? well, wont i have to run it in mono considering ill b using just 1 sub?

 

You need to run the amp mono for one sub however, If you run it lower than a 4 ohm load the amp may overheat and break. Mine broke when i tried to run a 2 ohm bridged mono load, but it was fixed under warranty .Just make sure your solobaric can be wired to 4 0hm .

I've already told you what I think about Kicker...and what I think about MTX (can we say Circuit City?). I'd go Rockford.

But on the amp wiring...standard amps aren't made for a 2 ohm mono load...it allows the amp to throw more power to the speakers, which leads to them overheating (vs. a 4 ohm or even 3 ohm load). Rockfords are meant for 4 ohm loads...and I can run them stable with a 3 ohm load...or stable with a 2 ohm load when cooled WELL. But I wouldn't recommend it.
